📋 About This Mod
If you update from v1. 0, disable mod, load game, save game, enable new version, enter game, get new armor! (I am sorry if you lose enchanted/upgraded armor, but life's not fair)
In my latest plays, I took a liking to custom armors and clothing. They are very nice change in the game, but can very easily break armor values. So I found StarShowMaster's mod Invisible Armors that helped with the armor rating problem, but it still lacked a bit (basically I had daedric armor from the start of the game).
That led me to create this mod, with 5 tiers of invisible armors that are both upgradable and temperable. Tiers are kept vanilla like, though more linear. Upgrades are done at smithing forge where you combine invisible armor with one tier higher normal armor (tier 2 light armor is done by combining tier 1 armor with leather armor)
xEdit script complimenting this mod is now available! Script is able to create a patch for your selected mods that will transform all armors into clothing. Usage is very simple:
0. add the script in "Edit Scripts" folder in you xEdit instalation folder.
0a. Script requires mteFunctions
1. load all armor mods you want to be patched into xEdit
2. Select all armor mods in the left panel of xEdit (except for loaded masters - like Skyrim.esm)
3. Right click and select "Apply script"
4. Find script "Skyrim - MNI - Convert Armor to clothing" and start it
5. Fill in the opened form and enjoy!
SkyUI and SKSE64 for version 2. 0
Slot selection now possible with MCM menu! (v2. 0)

Invisible Armors Enhanced adds 5 tiers of invisible, upgradable, and temperable armors to Skyrim Special Edition, solving armor rating issues with custom gear. Includes an xEdit script to convert other mods' armors to clothing. Requires SkyUI and SKSE64 for version 2.0.
✨ Key Features
📊 Pros & Cons
✅ Pros
- Solid community backing with 456 endorsements and nearly 14k downloads.
- Solves a real problem: custom armors breaking game balance by providing invisible, upgradeable alternatives.
- The xEdit script is a standout feature, letting you patch other armor mods to clothing easily.
⚠️ Cons
- Version 2.0 requires SkyUI and SKSE64, which might be a hurdle for some players.
- Not compatible with mods using specific armor slots (55, 56, 58, 59, 60), so check your load order.
- Updating from v1.0 can cause loss of enchanted or upgraded armor, so plan accordingly.
For Skyrim players who love custom armor mods but hate how they break armor values. Also great for mod authors wanting to convert armors to clothing via the xEdit script. Skip if you don't use custom armors or prefer visual armor over invisible stat boosters.
💡 Beginner Tips
- If you're on Skyrim Special Edition, make sure SKSE64 is installed and up to date before using version 2.0.
- When using the xEdit script, load all armor mods you want patched, but exclude masters like Skyrim.esm to avoid errors.
- Back up your save before updating from v1.0 to avoid losing enchanted or upgraded invisible armor.
