Convenient Horses by Alek - SE

Convenient Horses "should" tame the Wild Stallions if you wish to have them as your main source of transportation.

Please keep in mind that recommended mod(s) are not requirements for Horses Gone Wild to work, nor do I take responsibility if the recommended mod(s) do not work the way you want them to with Horses Gone Wild.

===========

Version 1. 4

Wild Horses are non-hostile.

Verified with TES5 Edit to be clean.

Description

===========

Makes Skyrim more immersive by adding herds of wild horses to various locations.

The horses can be killed, but they do respawn with the exception of wild stallions; they're essential.

You can loot hide and meat from them.

The horses are standalone, and should not overwrite (or be overwritten by) any other mods that change the appearance of horses,

(ie. horse armour mods, re-modeled and/or re-textured horses). They have their own meshes and textures made by AlienSlof.

In each herd there is at least one ridable horse (stallion).

When dismounting, the wild stallion will run back to his home herd.

Wild stallions are only meant for temporary transportation.

Horses Gone Wild is compatible with War Zones-Civil Unrest and Wars Of Skyrim.

Works perfectly fine with mounted combat.

There is a map in the zip file giving you a rough idea were the herds are located.

Incompatibility

===============

There is a possibility Horses Gone Wild may overlap with other mods that use the same exterior cells.

I've done my best in choosing locations that should not conflict with most of these mods.

Horses Gone Wild SE adds herds of wild horses to Skyrim's wilderness, making the world more immersive. The horses are standalone, can be killed for hide and meat, and respawn, except for essential wild stallions that can be temporarily ridden. It's a lightweight immersion mod with 503 endorsements, last updated in April 2021 for compatibility fixes.

✨ Key Features

Adds herds of wild horses to various locations across Skyrim.
Wild horses are non-hostile and can be killed for hide and meat.
Wild stallions are essential and can be ridden for temporary transportation, returning to their herd when dismounted.
Standalone meshes and textures by AlienSlof, so it won't conflict with other horse appearance mods.
Compatible with War Zones-Civil Unrest and Wars Of Skyrim, and works with mounted combat.
Includes a map in the zip showing herd locations.

📊 Pros & Cons

✅ Pros

  • Community-approved with 503 endorsements and over 13k downloads, so it's a proven addition.
  • Standalone design means it won't mess with your other horse mods—no overwriting textures or meshes.
  • Adds a nice layer of life to the wilderness without being intrusive; the horses are non-hostile and respawn.

⚠️ Cons

  • The mod hasn't been updated since April 2021, so it might have lingering issues with newer Skyrim SE patches.
  • Wild stallions are only temporary rides—they'll run off back to their herd, so don't expect a permanent mount.
  • Compatibility with other mods that add creatures or edit wilderness spawns could be a risk, though it's clean with TES5Edit.
🎯 Is This For You?
For Skyrim players who want more life in the wilderness without a big overhaul. If you're into immersion and like seeing wild animals, this is a nice touch. Skip if you're looking for new mounts or gameplay changes—this is purely about atmosphere.
📦 Install:Easy· Under 1 minute

💡 Beginner Tips

  • Use a mod manager like Vortex or MO2 to install and keep track of load order.
  • Check the included map in the zip to find the herds—they're scattered around the world.
  • If you use Convenient Horses, it can tame the wild stallions for permanent use, but it's not required.
