📋 About This Mod
So while working on my Cathedral Asset Remake I've discovered a number of alchemy ingredients whose meshes were never improved upon by modders, such as spider eggs. As for Swamp Fungal Pods, Dovanique has a high-high poly replacer, but with 27k triangles it makes my laptop cry tears of blood. It also over-smoothes the (to use a very scientific term) lil' nipple at the top of the pods. (Dovanique also made great unique textures, but I used vanilla in the screenshots to compare the meshes more clearly.)
My first impulse was to create an entirely new model based on Geastrum campestre, but if I fall down that rabbit hole the asset remake will wind up taking a back seat, so I restricted myself to a simple mesh edit to bring the model to a state acceptable for use alongside Cathedral assets. The second flora model might not actually be used in game, as it doesn't have a harvested state, but I added one to make it functional in case other mods use it.
Model Comparison:
Vanilla Not Too High Dovahnique
floraswampfungalpod01.nif 91kb, 2k triangles 107kb, 4. 5k triangles 1039kb, 36k triangles
floraswampfungalpod02.nif 30kb, 1k triangles 90kb, 4k triangles N/A
swampfungalpod01.nif 12kb, 250 triangles 23kb, 940 triangles 553kb, 27k triangles
TLDR: A performance friendly upscaled (up-polygonned?) version of the vanilla swamp pod with tidier UVs and compatibility with texture replacers like Mari's.
Other Not Too High Poly Models:
Creep Clusters
Like the concept? Check out IWantATardis' improved meshes, which are also compatible with vanilla retextures:
Spider Eggs
Giant's Toes
Human Hearts
Q: Mods in screenshots?
A: Dovanique's Diverse Unique Fungal Pods (mesh only), Skoglendi, Detailed Landscapes Morthal Swamp (custom ini).

✨ Key Features
📊 Pros & Cons
✅ Pros
- Solid community backing with 333 endorsements and over 27k downloads
- UV fixes mean textures won't stretch or look off—a real quality-of-life improvement
- Lightweight visual upgrade that doesn't overhaul the whole game
⚠️ Cons
- Only touches fungal pods—if you want broader swamp flora changes, this won't cover it
- Last updated in 2023, so it might not be compatible with the latest Skyrim updates or mods
- No screenshots or detailed previews, so you're flying blind on the visual result
For Skyrim modders who want a subtle, high-quality improvement to swamp fungal pods without a full flora overhaul. If you're a completionist who notices texture stretching on ingredients, this is a must-have. Skip if you're looking for dramatic visual changes or broader swamp environment upgrades.
💡 Beginner Tips
- Use a mod manager like Vortex or MO2 to install—it's a simple drop-in, but managing load order is easier with a tool.
- If you use other flora overhauls, place this mod after them in your load order to ensure its meshes take priority.
- Check the mod's file structure after download to confirm it's just meshes and textures—no ESP needed, so it's safe to remove anytime.
