High Fantasy Whiterun

High Fantasy Whiterun is my 4K/2K texture overhaul of Whiterun which I've been toiling at on and off (mostly off, admittedly) for a long time. It takes inspiration from some of my favorite elements of classic older Whiterun retextures such as amidianborn's and Noble Skyrim, some from the vanilla aesthetic, while also adding some of my own personal flair to it. Special care has been taken to the fundamental wall and ground textures for the outdoors to make sure they blend and flow together nicely in a cohesive fashion (which is an issue I often have with existing 4K Whiterun textures).

It features parallax support and comes with optional parallax-enabled meshes. Not every single texture has parallax since there are some limitations and bottlenecks with how both the engine and also certain meshes look with parallax, so I have curated their application to where it works best and doesn't look weird and incredibly distracting.

It also features an optional Class Disparity plugin. This is akin to a very minimalist interior overhaul for certain buildings where the floors and lofts are replaced with new meshes. It didn't make much sense to me that even the upper middle class households and businesses in Whiterun had floorboards that looked like they were falling apart, so they've been given a lightweight overhaul with new unique floor meshes and textures that lets them at least look like they can afford basic upkeep. The Battle-Borns being the wealthiest family in the city has some particularly fancy parquet patterns installed in their home.

This is kept as an opt-in plugin so as to maintain compatibility with any potentially conflicting mods such as JK's interior overhauls. It might be compatible with interior lighting overhauls since their changes should theoretically just stack with the cell edits, though I have not tested it personally.

COMPATIBILITY

USSEP-altered meshes are natively integrated. A SMIM patch for conflicting parallax meshes is provided in the installer.

COMPLEMENTARY MODS

This mod contains some rudimentary upscales of elements like windows and banners. I didn't put too much effort into them since there are already existing good quality mods for these things that I recommend you use alongside this.
