Description:

I guess a lot of people were at least somewhat irritated by the appearance of Skyrim guards, who are more resembling of Star Wars clones

instead of harsh northerners, that are protecting 9 basically independent holds. Or, when sitting in the comfortable chair on a winter

night you felt cheels while looking at Winterhold guard who wears chainmail over a naked body.

The purpose of this mod is to fix all this, while bringing as much as possible diversity to the guards equipment, while staying in the limits of lore and realism.

Every hold now has it's own armor and equipment, that depends on the hold's prosperity, geographic location, weather, cultural influence of

neighbouring countries and other important factors.

Equipment for every hold is divided into heavy and light, that have different appearance. All equipment works for both sexes and all races.

In short about every hold:

Whiterun is a prosperous trading city of nordic horse breeders, located in the very centre of Skyrim. Guard armors are rich and created somewhat in style of LOTR Rohan, kind of Nordic cavalry.

There is a special noble armor set, done specially for Balgruuf and his brother, but you can get a set yourself if you are careful while doing city quests.

Solitude is a capital, the richest city, and so it has the most expensive armor - decorated half-plate armor in style of Polish hussar armor. Main hero will get Champion of Solitude Armor out of ebony metal for their service to the city.

Markarth is a prosperous city built by Dwemers. There is plenty of Dwarven scraps lying  around, so skilled local smiths made guard armors from the dwemer ore. You may also notice slight Breton style.

Riften is an old wooden city in the beautiful autemn forest. This inspired me to create Slavic styled armor for the guards.

You can also find brigand ebony armor near Riften, but only if you are careful when doing quests.

Dawnstar is a seaport city. Cold, snow and mo

📊 Pros & Cons

✅ Pros

  • Massive community approval with 36,325 endorsements
  • Huge download count (2.8M) shows it's a go-to for many players
  • Straightforward replacer – no compatibility headaches with other armor mods if you load it right

⚠️ Cons

  • Last updated in 2020 – might not be patched for the latest Skyrim SE updates, though it's likely still fine
  • Only affects guards and Stormcloaks – if you wanted more variety, this is limited
  • No detailed description of the new designs, so you're going in blind unless you check screenshots
🎯 Is This For You?
For Skyrim players who want a fresh look for guards and Stormcloaks without overhauling the whole game. If you're tired of the vanilla armor and want something more immersive, this is a solid pick. Skip if you want changes to other factions or gameplay tweaks – this is purely cosmetic.
