📋 About This Mod
Frankly HD Dawnguard Armor and Weapons
"Be on your guard at all times. Avoid sleep if you can... Sleep is for the weak."
"Constant vigilance!" (kidding)
High resolution (4k and 2k available) retexture of Dawnguard's armor and weapons (the faction, not DLC). Includes all variants of the armor and shield; weapons including crossbow, steel bolts and the unique rune items. The latter have been made more unique with a glowing lava effect.
Vanilla normal maps were upscaled with a neural network software leading to much crisper and clearer details than one normally gets with upscaling on traditional image editing software.
Some meshes had to be modified for consistent shader settings and to enable enviroment mapping on some meshes that didn't have it. It is therefore partially compatible with mesh replacers. Specifically, this involves the weapons and some of the variants of the armor, like those that don't have pauldrons. Helmet replacers are completely compatible. That said, compatibility can be achieved very easily, there are some directions in the sticky comment.

It covers all armor variants, shields, crossbows, steel bolts, and unique rune items. With 24,000 endorsements and 4.5 million downloads, it's a community favorite for visual upgrades.
✨ Key Features
📊 Pros & Cons
✅ Pros
- Massive community trust: 24,000 endorsements and 4.5 million downloads
- Offers both 4K and 2K options to balance quality and performance
- Covers the full Dawnguard arsenal, not just armor
⚠️ Cons
- Last updated in 2021, so may not be optimized for the latest Skyrim patches
- No explicit mention of compatibility with other texture mods or load order
- Requires manual selection between 4K and 2K files, which might confuse some users
For Skyrim players who want their Dawnguard gear to look crisp and detailed without overhauling the entire game. If you're a fan of the faction's aesthetic and have the VRAM for 4K textures, this is a must-have. Skip if you prefer a more vanilla look or are on a low-end system.
💡 Beginner Tips
- Choose the 2K version if you're on a mid-range GPU to avoid performance hits.
- Use a mod manager like Vortex or MO2 to easily switch between 4K and 2K files.
- Place this mod after other texture overhauls in your load order to ensure it takes priority.
