📋 About This Mod

Food Size Scaling uses the scaling function of Base Object Swapper (BOS) to allow you to resize food items to the specific size that suits you best.

Main Files:

  • []Food Size Scaling:

This Main File comes preset to scale down the main offenders of oversized food, those being: Apples, Tomatoes, Potatoes and Sweetrolls. All of these have been scaled down to 75% size (my personal preference).

But, the idea is that this mod should be used as a framework for you to customise the result to your specific mod list and esthetic preference. Thus it is expected, but not required, that you edit the _SWAP.ini file to your liking. You can do this by opening the 'Food Size Scaling _SWAP.ini' file with any text editor to make changes to the scaling options as detailed below:

Each item is covered by a line similar to this example: FoodApple|scale(1. 0)

To scale the apple down to 75% of its original size you simply adjust the scaling parameter as follows: FoodApple|scale(0. 75)

To scale the apple up to 150% of its original size you adjust the scaling parameter as follows: FoodApple|scale(1. 5)

  • []Food Size Scaling - Randomised Scale:

This alternate Main File introduces random scaling of items between two pre configured values. This means that all natural food stuffs will differ in size ever so slightly, just like real life produce. The default parameters have been set to 60-80% for Apples, Tomatoes and Potatoes and 80-100% for the other fruits, vegetables and meat cuts.

Just like with the other Main File you can edit these values yourself by opening the 'Food Size Scaling - Randomised Scale _SWAP.ini' file with any text editor to make changes to the scaling options as detailed below:

Each item is covered by a line similar to the following example, scaling all Apples randomly between 60-80%: FoodApple|scale(0. 6/0. 8)

If you would prefer apples to scale between 80-120% as, an example, you simply change the line as follows: FoodApple|scale(0. 8/1. 2)

  • Food Size Scaling - Diverse Foods Friendly:

This Main File is meant to be used alongside the excellent Diverse Foods mod. Diverse Foods covers some, but not all, of the same items as Food Size Scaling so using the two together makes perfect sense. This alternate Main File is the same as the 'Randomised Scale' file because Diverse Foods implements randomised scale as well. With this file all items that are covered by Diverse Foods have been left out to be handled by that mod exclusively. This prevents "double scaling" of the items covered by both mods. Alteration to this file's parameters are the same as explained above.

NOTE: Use one Main File only

Compatibility and Limitations:

✨ Key Features

Adjusts food model and mesh sizes using Base Object Swapper.
Compatible with all vanilla model and mesh replacers.
No plugin or ESP required, so it won't add to your load order.
Lightweight and easy to install.

📊 Pros & Cons

✅ Pros

  • No ESP means zero load order headaches and no plugin conflicts.
  • Works with any vanilla replacer, so you can mix and match without breaking things.
  • Solid community trust with 198 endorsements and nearly 7k downloads.

⚠️ Cons

  • Only affects food sizes—if you wanted other object scaling, this isn't it.
  • Requires Base Object Swapper, so you need to grab that dependency first.
  • Since it's mesh-based, it might not play nice with mods that overhaul food meshes entirely.
🎯 Is This For You?
For Skyrim players who want more realistic or varied food sizes without adding a plugin. If you're into immersion tweaks and already use Base Object Swapper, this is a no-brainer. Skip if you're looking for gameplay changes or if you don't care about food proportions.
📦 Install:Easy· Under 1 minute

💡 Beginner Tips

  • Make sure you have Base Object Swapper installed and enabled before adding this mod.
  • Since there's no ESP, you don't need to worry about load order—just install and play.
  • If you use a mod manager, let it handle the file placement to avoid overwriting other mesh mods.
