📋 About This Mod
For VR users: Two VR users reported crashes with the PBR version, so please use the vanilla one for VR. For now, I don't know what the reason is. Updated with SNIFF patched meshes, hopefully that resolves the crashes.
A 'simple' firewood replacer (it just works). Uses Low poly meshes with detail baked from Sketchfab models (links in credits). Looks pretty good and doesn't hurt performance, but took many hours to fix up all the issues with baking. If you want more polygons, you can use High Poly Project + Diverse and Lootable Firewood, which apparently use the same base models as me (haven't seen them mentioned in the credits though).
The mod covers all firewood piles, single firewood piece, carried firewood and firewood chopping station. If you have Base Object Swapper, one of 4 variants will be randomly chosen for the piles. Unfortunately some variant piles are taller than vanilla and might clip.
A True PBR version (an unreleased Community Shaders feature) is included. Not a big graphical difference, but will look more natural among other pbr assets for sure.
UPDATE 1. 1:
-
[]Normal and roughness map adjustments by Faultier (faultierfan). More detailed and more shiny.
[
]Fixed textures being replaced in snow variants. Projected snow now looks normal on woodpiles. - Painted subtle vertex colors on piles to add some fake AO.
A high-detail firewood replacer for Skyrim, maintaining vanilla triangle counts. Includes BOS variants and a True PBR version. With 105 endorsements and 30,309 downloads, it's a niche but popular cosmetic improvement for players seeking better-looking firewood without performance hits.
✨ Key Features
📊 Pros & Cons
✅ Pros
- Performance-friendly: triangle count matches vanilla, so no FPS worries.
- Community-trusted: 105 endorsements and over 30k downloads show it's a solid pick.
- Flexible options: BOS variants and a True PBR version let you tailor the look.
⚠️ Cons
- Niche mod: only affects firewood, so if you're not into hyper-detailed props, it's easy to skip.
- PBR version may require specific texture setups or ENB support to look right.
- Compatibility risk: BOS variants need Base Object Swapper, so ensure you have that installed.
For Skyrim modders who obsess over environmental detail and want firewood that looks better without tanking performance. If you're a vanilla purist or don't care about props, this isn't for you—it's purely cosmetic.
💡 Beginner Tips
- If you use BOS variants, make sure Base Object Swapper is installed and load order is correct.
- For the True PBR version, check if your ENB supports PBR textures to avoid visual glitches.
- Use a mod manager to easily toggle between the standard and PBR versions.
