📋 About This Mod

To change grip, press 'G' on keyboard (check the .ini file to change) or + buttons on gamepad(eg. A + LT)

Gameplay wise, changing grip on a one-handed weapon gives you a +30% damage bonus to one-handed weapons and for

two-handed weapons a 30% damage penalty aswell as a speed buff/debuff for 1h and 2h respectively.

These are implemented by using magic effects, so they can be easily customized with SEEdit.

Perk requirements for each grip mode can be enabled in the .ini file, by assigning each the respective perk's EditorID

(The same perk can be assigned to both);

sRequiredPerk1H  -  one handed weapons(sword, dagger, axe and mace)

sRequiredPerk2H  -  two handed weapons(greatsword, battleaxe and war-hammer)

Regarding melee staff mode the following settings can be changed in the ini file;

bMeleeStaffEnchants - Enable of disable staff enchants while in melee mode (default: true). There's a whole wide array of different staff effects out there so in case of issues you can simply disable them in here

fMeleeStaffDamage   - default: 13. 0, pretty self explanatory

fMeleeStaffSpeed      - default: 1. 4, this is probably the value that needs tweaking the most as it is largely dependent on the animations used, higher number speeds up animations

✨ Key Features

Changes the right-hand weapon grip via an SKSE plugin
Lightweight plugin that doesn't require a full combat overhaul
Popular with 1,549 endorsements and 167,154 downloads

📊 Pros & Cons

✅ Pros

  • Community-approved with 1,549 endorsements and a huge download count (167k) – clearly a go-to for grip tweaks
  • Does one thing and does it well: alters the right-hand grip without messing with other combat mechanics
  • Lightweight SKSE plugin – won't bloat your load order or tank your FPS

⚠️ Cons

  • Only affects the right hand – left-handed or dual-wield players might feel left out
  • SKSE plugin means it's PC-only and requires SKSE64, so console players are out of luck
  • Compatibility risk with other mods that alter weapon animations or grip positions – test with your setup
🎯 Is This For You?
For Skyrim players who want a more natural or customized weapon grip without overhauling combat. If you're a modder or enthusiast who notices subtle animation details, this is a must-try. Skip if you're on console or want full combat overhauls – this is a niche tweak.
📦 Install:Easy· Under 1 minute

💡 Beginner Tips

  • Make sure you have SKSE64 installed and launch Skyrim through SKSE, not the default launcher, or the plugin won't load.
  • Test the grip change in first-person and third-person views – the effect might be more noticeable in one perspective.
  • If you use other combat animation mods, load Dynamic Grip after them to ensure its changes take priority.
