📋 About This Mod
All credit for this mod goes to Anuiel.
I just ported it and made new TRI files.
Description
This mod adds 15 dwemer-style beards to Skyrim, created by Anuiel.
The original SE port for this mod has a few issues because SE is apparently extremely finicky when it comes to TRI files. If they don't perfectly match up with the headpart it's attached to, you will get the exploding beard effect. Sure, you can just delete the TRI files from the folder and move on with your life, but that's quitter talk. I'm not a quitter.
This version also fixes the translucent "ghost beard" effect on some of the beards due to the "dynamic decal" and "decal" flags being set on the mesh in nifskope. SE doesn't like that either. By the way, that's why some of the vanilla elf hairs are see through.
Compatibility
This mod should be compatible with just about any mod, including beard and hair retextures, and most race mods using a headmesh based off of a vanilla race. I haven't tested for compatibility with any of the various high poly heads, sorry.
This mod conflicts with Dwemer Spectres Special Edition because that mod also has a version of the Dwemer Beards mod in it. I sent the folks in charge of that mod a copy of the fixed meshes, so just make sure the ESP for this mod loads AFTER Dwemer Spectres SE for now. Make sure you're selecting the right beards in the right ESP during character creation. It no longer conflicts with the latest update of Dwemer Spectres.
This mod also conflicts slightly with Skyrim Immersive Creatures Special Edition, because SIC SE includes an older version of the Dwemer Spectres mod with an older version of the Dwemer Beards mod in it. Make sure this mod loads AFTER SIC SE.
Installation
I really recommend that you install this mod with a mod organizer such as Mod Organizer 2 or Vortex.
Why? Because if the meshes from this mod are accidentally overwritten by a different mod using the original meshes, you will have the ghost beard problem again. You don't want that to happen, now do you?

Frequently Asked Questions
Q. Will you port this to Xbox?
A. I completely removed the Bethesda.net launcher from my PC after getting the Creation Kit, so I will not. It's been ported to Xbox by pmb52086, grab it here.
Q. There's a follower/NPC mod that uses assets from the original mod. How do I make those beards not explode?
A. Good question. In brief, you will need to edit the headparts in the NPC mod to use the corresponding TRI files. The names match with the NIF files to keep it simple. Then you regenerate the facegen in the Creation Kit.
Q. How did you make the TRI files for this mo
This mod ports 15 Dwemer-style beards to Skyrim Special Edition, fixing TRI file issues that caused the exploding beard effect and correcting translucent ghost beards. It is compatible with most mods, including retextures and race mods, but conflicts with Dwemer Spectres SE and Skyrim Immersive Creatures SE unless load order is adjusted. Recommended for players wanting unique Dwemer-themed beards with technical fixes.
✨ Key Features
📊 Pros & Cons
✅ Pros
- Solid community backing with 392 endorsements and over 12k downloads.
- Fixes real technical issues that plague other ports, like the exploding beard and ghost beard glitches.
- Works with most mods, so you can keep your other beard and hair overhauls.
⚠️ Cons
- Not tested with high poly head mods, so those users might hit issues.
- Conflicts with Dwemer Spectres SE and Skyrim Immersive Creatures SE unless you manage load order carefully.
- Last updated in 2020, so it might be outdated for newer Skyrim SE versions.
For Skyrim SE players who want unique Dwemer-themed beards without the visual glitches that plague other ports. If you use high poly head mods, you might want to skip this until compatibility is confirmed. It's purely cosmetic, so don't expect gameplay changes.
💡 Beginner Tips
- Use Mod Organizer 2 or Vortex to install, as the mod author recommends it for proper mesh handling.
- If you have Dwemer Spectres SE or Skyrim Immersive Creatures SE, make sure this mod loads after them in your load order.
- During character creation, select the beards from the correct ESP to avoid conflicts with Dwemer Spectres.
