📋 About This Mod
Breakdown:
A simple KID framework that uses SKSE to voice Draugr shouts - replacing the laggy and inconsistent, vanilla quest system.
How it works:
- []This framework has the 8 voiced shouts which were available in the base game. The KID file tells you the voices they make (e.g. Become Ethereal - Feim Zii Gron)
-
[]There are 8 corresponding Keywords, associated with these voices. You just need to distribute the specific keyword to the SPELL(S), associated with shouts you want to voice.
- The "DSV_VoiceTypes_List" formlist (in the esp) contains the voice-types that are recognized by the mod. You can easily adjust this list using a mod like FormList Manipulator or make simple XEdit patches.
Support for Draugr Mods:
I'm currently supporting shouts from The Restless Dead and ROTE, and plan to continue. The main hurdle I face is that some "Shouts" in these mods are not really shouts, or don't fit the cannon ones to match the Thu'um spoken (aka we know Unrelenting Force = Fus Ro Dah).
I'm discussing with the author of The Restless Dead to see if he can implement shouts that match the voices available. Talkative Draugr has some excellent voice-acting, and if their team is willing to make voice lines for some shouts that we don't have (e.g., Fire Breath = Yol Toor Shul), I'd be happy to incorporate them into the framework.
Together, as a community, as we revitalize the Draugr experiences which are so common in Skyrim.

This SKSE-based framework replaces Skyrim's vanilla quest system for Draugr shout voicing, providing a more responsive and consistent audio experience. It's a lightweight utility for modders and players who want smoother Draugr shout sounds without the lag of the original system.
✨ Key Features
📊 Pros & Cons
✅ Pros
- Fixes a real annoyance—vanilla Draugr shout audio is laggy and inconsistent, and this mod targets that directly
- Community-approved with 209 endorsements and over 10k downloads, so it's proven to work for many players
- Uses SKSE and KID, which are standard tools for Skyrim modding, so it's likely compatible with most setups
⚠️ Cons
- Requires SKSE and KID, so you need to install those dependencies first—not a drop-in mod
- As a framework, it might not include actual new shout sounds, just the voicing system—check if you want content
- Compatibility risk with other mods that alter Draugr shouts or use the same quest system—test with your load order
For Skyrim players and modders who are tired of the vanilla Draugr shout audio being laggy or inconsistent, and who want a more reliable system. It's also great for mod authors who want to integrate custom shout voicing without dealing with the vanilla quest system. Skip if you're looking for new shout sounds—this is a framework, not a content pack.
💡 Beginner Tips
- Make sure you have SKSE installed and launch the game through the SKSE loader, otherwise the mod won't work.
- Install Keyword Item Distributor (KID) via your mod manager and ensure it's up to date—this mod relies on it.
- Test the mod in a Draugr-heavy dungeon like Bleak Falls Barrow to hear the difference; if you notice issues, check your load order for conflicts with other audio mods.
