📋 About This Mod

VERSION 1. 3. 0

(21/03/2023)

My personal feeling is that the Dark Brotherhood needs to, at the very least, maintain the illusion of being everywhere at once. It has become exceedingly difficult to fulfill (or even establish) contracts in provinces where we no longer have a physical presence, like Hammerfell. The more we ignore Tamriel, the more people lose faith in the Dark Brotherhood - our power, our services, our dedication to the Void. - Cicero's Journal by Cicero

This mod is now included in the Betalille's Hammerfell Quests Bundle, alongside a lot of other ones. If you want to have the full experience of all the mods I made for the Alik'r Desert, then I suggest getting the bundle instead!

An unknown initiate has come to you asking for help in Hammerfell. Upon arriving in the Alik'r Desert, you find a sanctuary that has been wiped out during the Great War, but is being reinvested by a new Dark Brotherhood member: Tenerio. Help him killing targets, completing contracts and rebuilding the Dark Brotherhood's reputation in Hammerfell. Once your reputation is back, maybe some people will join your cause.

A total of 5 contract-type quests (go there, kill someone, come back) like what Nazir gives as the Dark Brotherhood sidequests in an ESL-flagged ESP and 3 more quests expanding a small original storyline. It also contains one quest for those who have defeated the Dark Brotherhood in Skyrim, they can help the Penitus Oculatus once again to defeat the brotherhood in Hammerfell. It requires The Gray Cowl of Nocturnal SE, by the talented mannygt.

What's new in the version 1. 2? The player can now have access to their very own room in the Alik'r Desert Sanctuary. For those who do not want to join the Dark Brotherhood, the Penitus Oculatus is back in Hammerfell and is looking for someone capable of defeating the Dark Brotherhood once again. This quest would require you to have defeated the Dark Brotherhood in Skyrim already.

The original scripts were left untouched, which means it should be fine to update the mod mid-playthrough.

  • How do I start the mod?

After finishing the quest "Hail Sithis!" from the Dark Brotherhood questline, an "Unknown Initiate" will be on a small island, to the north of the Dawnstar Sanctuary. Talk to her, it will launch the introduction quest. Head to the Alik'r Desert (to have access to this area, you have to have finished the first part of the mod The Gray Cowl of Nocturnal SE) and there will be a map marker showing you where the Alik'r Desert Sanctuary is located.

For those who want to defeat the Dark Brotherhood, you just require to have defeated the Dark Brotherhood in Skyrim and to go to the Penit

🤖 AI-enhanced — based on mod data

This mod reintroduces the Dark Brotherhood in Hammerfell's Alik'r Desert, letting players kill targets and spread word of the guild's return. It's a guild/faction expansion for Skyrim players who want more Dark Brotherhood content outside of Skyrim. With 500 endorsements and over 129k downloads, it's a well-received addition.

✨ Key Features

Reintroduces the Dark Brotherhood in Hammerfell's Alik'r Desert.
Players kill targets and spread word that the Dark Brotherhood is back.
Adds a new guild/faction experience in a desert setting.

📊 Pros & Cons

✅ Pros

  • Solid community backing with 500 endorsements and over 129k downloads.
  • Fills a niche for Dark Brotherhood fans wanting content in Hammerfell.
  • Last updated in March 2023, so it's relatively recent for Skyrim mods.

⚠️ Cons

  • Description is vague on actual quests, NPCs, or mechanics—you're going in blind.
  • Potential compatibility issues with other mods that alter the Alik'r Desert or Dark Brotherhood questlines.
  • No mention of patches for popular overhauls like USSEP or Interesting NPCs, so expect possible conflicts.
🎯 Is This For You?
For Skyrim players who've exhausted the vanilla Dark Brotherhood and want a new desert-based guild experience. If you're a completionist who loves faction quests and exploring Hammerfell, this is worth a shot. Skip if you're looking for a story-rich expansion—this one's light on details.
📦 Install:Easy· Under 1 minute

💡 Beginner Tips

  • Since it's a guild mod, make sure you've completed the vanilla Dark Brotherhood questline to avoid lore conflicts.
  • Use a mod manager like Vortex or MO2 to easily track and uninstall if you run into issues.
  • Check the mod's posts section on Nexus for user-reported compatibility notes before adding other desert mods.
