📋 About This Mod
This is a lighthearted mod that simply tweaks the generic idle dialogue that NPCs may utter, and implements custom animations to most of them (coughing, yawning and humming, but not sniffing or clearing throat). I made this for a bit of immersion, because for instance I started to think it's kinda rude how followers cough straight out while looking in the player character's general direction.
The animations in this mod are technically not made from scratch, they are vanilla animations that I extracted from the base game and modified in other programs like hkxPoser.
Another tweak I did to these "dialogue lines" was that I added more condition checks to them, to prevent them from being spoken while the actor is sleeping, swimming or sneaking.
Manual installation:
Download the archive, open it in a Zip program of your choice then drag-and-drop the Data folder into your Skyrim SE directory (like C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Skyrim Special Edition ), then you enable the plugin "CAYWYH.esp" in the SkyrimSE launcher or some mod manager of your choice.
Then you will have to re-generate your FNIS or Nemesis.

✨ Key Features
📊 Pros & Cons
✅ Pros
- Community-approved with 240 endorsements and over 12k downloads.
- Lightweight immersion tweak that adds personality to NPCs without overhauling dialogue.
- Prevents awkward idle chatter during stealth or rest, which is a nice quality-of-life touch.
⚠️ Cons
- Requires FNIS or Nemesis regeneration, which can be a hassle if you're not used to it.
- Only covers coughing, yawning, and humming—sniffing and throat-clearing are left untouched.
- Compatibility risk with other mods that alter idle animations or dialogue conditions.
For Skyrim players who want a bit more life in NPC idle behavior without a full dialogue overhaul. If you're a stealth archer who hates hearing your follower cough while you're sneaking, this is for you. Skip if you're looking for major gameplay changes—this is purely cosmetic and immersive.
💡 Beginner Tips
- After installing, run FNIS or Nemesis to generate animations, or NPCs will T-pose.
- Use a mod manager like Vortex or MO2 to enable the plugin, then place it in your load order.
- If you use other animation mods, run FNIS/Nemesis after all are installed to avoid conflicts.
