📋 About This Mod

One of the many problems with Skyrim's underwhelming magic is that you just can't get "good" spells at a meaningful time: even if you're pouring all your levelup points into Magicka and all your perks into casting, you don't have access to spells any sooner than a pure combat build, because availability is only based on character levels.

Oblivion got this right, letting you buy each level of spells once you had the skill to cast them, but implementing that in Skyrim is more effort than it's really worth, so since Magicka and Perks limit you to only casting "appropriate" spells anyway I just took the easy way out.

This super-simple mod changes the leveled lists for the College spell vendors to make all their spells available from level 1. Spell books in loot are unaffected.

🤖 AI-enhanced — based on mod data

A small quality-of-life mod for Skyrim that makes all non-Master spellbooks available for purchase from the start, removing the need to level skills or find vendors. With 200 endorsements and 6,452 downloads, it's a simple tweak for players who want early access to spells without grinding.

✨ Key Features

All non-Master spellbooks are purchasable from the beginning of the game.
No level or skill requirements to buy spellbooks.
Simple, lightweight mod with no additional scripts or dependencies.

📊 Pros & Cons

✅ Pros

  • Great for starting a new character and grabbing spells early (200 endorsements).
  • Tiny mod, no bloat, just changes vendor lists.
  • Works with any playthrough where you want magic variety from level 1.

⚠️ Cons

  • Last updated in 2018, so might not be compatible with the latest Skyrim updates or mods that overhaul vendors.
  • Only affects non-Master spells, so you still need to level for the big ones.
  • Could conflict with mods that alter merchant inventories or add new spell vendors.
🎯 Is This For You?
For Skyrim players who hate grinding to unlock spell purchases and want to jump straight into a mage build. Also great for roleplayers who want their character to start with a broader spell selection. Skip if you prefer progression-based unlocks or use mods that overhaul vendor systems.

💡 Beginner Tips

  • If you're using a mod manager like Vortex or MO2, just download and enable; load order rarely matters for this type of mod.
  • Check if you have other mods that edit vendor lists—if so, put this one after them to ensure it takes effect.
  • For Skyrim Special Edition, you might need to convert the mod or find an SE version, as this was made for the original game.
