📋 About This Mod
Overview :
This is my attempt at making all clearings in the game more interesting. These locations usually look good when it comes to scenery but feel empty when it comes to everything else. They turned out to be tricky to overhaul, there obviously isn't any "clearing" type architecture to add other than spamming trees and rocks. But, not only would that be boring, it would also include a lot of compatibility issues.
Instead, I tried to expend on each location through environmental storytelling. They all have a little story to tell through carefully placed items, clutter and dead NPCs. From hunters ending up being the ones hunted, to bandits meeting an unfortunate end on a fragile bridge. You'll hopefully have more reasons to actually explore these locations.
Thanks to Bards College Graduate for the double showcase ! (4:30 to 6:01)

Compatibility :
Should be compatible with everything except mods editing the same locations. Even then, the worst you can expect is some clipping.
Editing navmeshes wasn't really necessary for this one. There aren't many enemies in these areas and it makes this mod very compatible.
Feedback is welcome as always, if it turns out to be an issue i'll upload a navmeshed version.
Locations covered :
- Autumnshade Clearing
- Clearpine Pond
- Clearspring Tarn
- Headwaters of Harstrad (DB)
- Mara's Eye pond

Clearings Overhaul is a Skyrim mod that enhances five vanilla clearings with environmental storytelling, adding carefully placed items, clutter, and dead NPCs to make each location more interesting. It avoids navmesh edits for high compatibility and is designed to work with most mods, with minor clipping as the worst case if conflicts occur.
✨ Key Features
📊 Pros & Cons
✅ Pros
- Community-approved with 165 endorsements and over 14k downloads, so it's got a solid track record.
- No navmesh edits means it plays nice with other mods—huge plus for load order stability.
- Adds actual storytelling to otherwise empty locations, which is a creative twist on typical location overhauls.
⚠️ Cons
- Only covers five clearings, so it's a small scope—you might want more locations covered.
- If you use mods that edit the same clearings, you could see clipping, though the author says that's the worst case.
- No navmesh edits could mean NPCs path oddly in those areas, though the author notes there aren't many enemies there.
For Skyrim players who love exploring and want every location to have a bit of narrative depth. If you're tired of empty clearings and want a lightweight, compatible overhaul, this is for you. Skip if you're looking for major gameplay changes or massive location overhauls—this is a subtle, story-driven touch.
💡 Beginner Tips
- Since this mod doesn't touch navmeshes, it's safe to add mid-playthrough, but always test in a new save if you're cautious.
- If you use other location overhauls, check if they cover the same clearings to avoid clipping—worst case is minor visual overlap.
- Endorse the mod if you enjoy it; the author explicitly asks for feedback and endorsements to help others find it.
