📋 About This Mod
WHAT'S THIS MOD ABOUT?
When you pick up random loot on the floor in a civilized area, such as food on tables that aren't marked as stealing, have you ever gotten someone from another floor running up to you just to say "That was just lying around? Good find"?
Have you gotten this to occur in the middle of a break-in, where you grabbed a sweet roll that wasn't marked as stealing because you happen to have high disposition with the owner, therefore triggering this nagging even when they're asleep?
Do they still commit to this nagging despite you being invisible, like they've suddenly achieved the same cosmic power as the Courier?
I've encoutered this multiple times, and I HATE it.
For many, this may not be too noticeable, but it is for me and possibly other users who also have Here We Go Again. Tarlazo's mod allows these quests to be more reliably repeatable, which includes the quest that triggers this annoying behavior. Therefore, I made this mod to add and change certain conditions, hopefully making this trigger much less and if it does, it triggers in a more immersive way.
FEATURES
-
[]Detection distance decreased from 1500 to 250, which is only a bit further than regular speaking distance. This makes it look like the NPC only notices you grabbing the item because they were paying attention to you in the first place.
[
]Can't trigger if they are sleeping. No more 6th sense![]Can't trigger if you grabbed the items while sneaking, regardless of distance or if NPCs are awake.
INSTALLATION
- []Install this mod with your preferred mod manager
COMPATBILITY
- Not compatible with any mods that changes WIAddItem01 """Did you find something good?"""
CREDITS
tarlazo for their immense help.
This Skyrim mod reduces the chance of random NPCs commenting when you pick up loot, cutting down on repetitive nagging. It's a lightweight ESP-FE plugin with 327 endorsements and 73,901 downloads, last updated in August 2022. Ideal for players who want less ambient dialogue without removing NPC interactions entirely.
✨ Key Features
📊 Pros & Cons
✅ Pros
- Community-approved with 327 endorsements and over 73k downloads, so plenty of players trust it.
- ESP-FE means it's light on your load order, perfect for mod lists already near the cap.
- Directly tackles a common annoyance—NPCs commenting on every piece of loot you grab.
⚠️ Cons
- Last updated in 2022, so it might not be tested with the latest Skyrim updates or other mods.
- Only reduces the chance of comments, not a complete removal—if you want total silence, this might not be enough.
- Compatibility risk with mods that alter NPC dialogue or add new comments, since it modifies the same systems.
For Skyrim players who are tired of hearing 'I could use that' every time you pick up a fork. If you're a loot hoarder who wants less ambient chatter without losing all NPC reactions, this is a simple fix. Skip if you want to completely disable NPC commentary or if you're on a version of Skyrim released after 2022 and haven't verified compatibility.
💡 Beginner Tips
- Since it's an ESP-FE, you can safely place it anywhere in your load order, but putting it near other immersion mods is fine.
- If you use a mod manager like Vortex or MO2, just download and install—no extra patches needed.
- Test in a crowded area like Whiterun market to see if the reduced nagging feels right for your playthrough.
