📋 About This Mod

(Original mod is here. Please endorse the original if you use this and like it.)

I obtained permission from Borgut1337 to convert this. I wanted to do that because a lot of the dual wield block options for SSE are SKSE-dependent and feature heavy, and often depend on hotkey binding that changes the muscle memory for combat. This is simple, no-frills, does what it says on the proverbial tin, and is a close match for the vanilla controls.

From the original mod description:

Dual Wield Parrying Random Attacks

- The default block button (which you also use to block when you have a shield) will now also allow you to block when dual wielding two one-handed weapons or when using your bare fists.

- You can no longer control with which hand you strike when dual wielding weapons or using your fists. Instead, you will randomly sometimes use the left hand and sometimes the right hand.

- This mod has no effect when you are sneaking.

- Only the combinations One-handed Weapon + One-handed Weapon and Nothing + Nothing are supported.

Addendum by me

- Bashing works as per the usual controls, and looks like a swipe with the off-hand weapon.

- As far as I can tell, it does NOT do attack cancellation on a power bash. So it's slightly less effective than a shield or blocking with a weapon. I'm okay with this.

- As far as I can tell, mods like VioLens still identify you as dual-wielding, and will show those killmoves.

- If it matters, the version I converted was the Dawnguard version.

That's pretty much it. There's no config, no MCM, etc. Just install it, enable it, and go.

The Usual Caveats

Mod is provided as-is. I'm a newb and know just enough about modding to get myself into trouble. So if this doesn't work for you, I sadly will probably not be able to help you. It works fine for me on a save game that's been put through the wringer, 130+ mods, cleaned in ReSaver a few times because I screwed something up or had weird problems with script spam, and so on.

All I did was save the .esp as Form 44, and have changed literally nothing else in the mod.

🤖 AI-enhanced — based on mod data

This Oldrim conversion of Borgut1337's dual wield mod changes left attack to block and makes main attacks randomly swing either weapon, with no SKSE requirement. It's a simple combat tweak for Skyrim players who want dual wielding to feel more defensive and varied.

✨ Key Features

Left attack is remapped to block, enabling defensive play while dual wielding.
Main attacks randomly swing either weapon for varied combat.
No SKSE required, making it compatible with non-SKSE setups.
Converted for Oldrim (Skyrim Legendary Edition).

📊 Pros & Cons

✅ Pros

  • Community-trusted with 453 endorsements and over 34k downloads.
  • No SKSE dependency means it's lightweight and easy to install.
  • Adds a fresh twist to dual wielding without overhauling combat.

⚠️ Cons

  • Random attack pattern can be unpredictable, which might not suit players who prefer consistent combos.
  • Only affects dual wielding; other combat styles remain unchanged.
  • As an Oldrim conversion, it may not be updated for Special Edition or Anniversary Edition, so compatibility with newer setups is uncertain.
🎯 Is This For You?
For Skyrim players who dual wield and want a defensive option without giving up the second weapon. Also for those who enjoy a bit of randomness in combat. Skip if you prefer precise control over your attacks or if you're on Special Edition and don't want to mess with conversions.
📦 Install:Easy· Under 1 minute

💡 Beginner Tips

  • Since it's a simple mod, just drop the files into your Data folder or use a mod manager.
  • Test the block mechanic in a safe area to get used to the new control scheme.
  • If you're on Special Edition, you may need to convert the mod yourself or find an SE version.
