📋 About This Mod
Blacksmith Forge and Anvil Variants uses Base Object Swapper (BOS) to dynamically add three variants of the Blacksmith Forge and Anvil meshes respectively.
In addition to unique Anvils, the Blacksmith Forge meshes feature some higher poly geometry and a few additional clutter items to further differentiate the variants. Forge meshes are based on Better Bellows, and the two mods are compatible with each other. Blacksmith Forge and Anvil Variants covers the standalone version of the anvil mesh as well as the regular 'farmhouse' version of the forge. The Whiterun forge, Skyforge and Raven Rock forge are not included in Blacksmith Forge and Anvil Variants as there are only one of each of these meshes in the game. These meshes are covered by Better Bellows though, providing a consistent look across all forge meshes when used in tandem. The forge meshes use mostly vanilla texture paths so your own load order will have a large impact on the look of the meshes in your game. In my screenshots I'm making use of Skyland AIO along with Embers XD. All forge variants also feature animated water for the water trough.
Of the three Anvil variants the 'HalkHogan' and 'Pieter82' variants make use of custom texture paths to ensure compatibility with the ElSopa variant, as ElSopa - HD Medieval Anvil SE replaces the vanilla textures but its textures are based on its own custom UV layout.
The plugin is flagged as ESL.
Optional Files:
Blacksmith Forge and Anvil Variants - ESP Plugin: This replaces the ESL plugin of the main file with a normal ESP plugin. If you make use of this optional file you will no longer require Backported Extended ESL Support or Skyrim VR ESL Support. Have this Optional file overwrite your chosen Main File.
Blacksmith Forge and Anvil Variants - Light Placer: This file facilitates Light Placer integration, with it installed all forges will emit light if used in conjunction with Light Placer.
BF and AV - Model Swapper Conversion: This file allows you to make use of Model Swapper instead of Base Object Swapper. This should improve compatibility with mods and game modes that require vanilla asset forms to function correctly, such as Survival Mode.
Have this file overwrite the Main File. It replaces the _SWAP.ini file with a blank one, essentially rendering the BOS version innert. You can then disable or delete the plugin file as well, as it is only required by BOS, though this is completely optional. (Note: I do not recommend removing the Main File plugin mid save)
Hard Requirements:
ElSopa - HD Medieval Anvil SE for all versions (You will also require the Embers XD or Embers HD patch if using those mods without Better Bellows)
Base Object Swapper for SE and AE
Backported Extended ESL Support for game versions 1. 5. 97, 1. 6. 659, and anything in between (Not required for VR

✨ Key Features
📊 Pros & Cons
✅ Pros
- Community favorite with 320 endorsements and over 105k downloads
- Lightweight visual upgrade that doesn't touch gameplay
- Base Object Swapper means no messy plugin conflicts
⚠️ Cons
- Requires Base Object Swapper, so you need to grab that dependency first
- Purely cosmetic – if you want new smithing mechanics, this isn't it
- Compatibility risk with other mods that alter forge or anvil meshes
For Skyrim players who want more visual variety in their smithing areas without overhauling the whole game. If you're tired of seeing the same forge and anvil everywhere, this is a simple fix. Skip if you're looking for gameplay changes – this is purely cosmetic.
