📋 About This Mod
Arm Movement Animations (OAR mod) is an addition of more than 80 conditional dynamic replacers for offsetarmscrossed.hkx animation overlay in game.
This animation is often gets activated for NPCs in dialogue and replaces arm movement from idle animations or gestures currently playing, resulting in characters seem less lively. That is not what I want in my Skyrim, especially with interesting characters like Sheogorath.
To help it I created Immersive Folded Hands mod, at the start DAR and OAR only allowed to add conditional variants of offsetarmscrossed animation. Now new OAR features made it possible for this mod to add so much more, I even had to change the name. Immersive Folded Hands becomes Arm Movement Animations because there are so much arm movement, it is rarely folded.
AMA replaces static folded arms animation overlay with rotation of:
-
[]short motions like stretching, scratching, looking far away and so on
[
]dynamic arm folding animations (with a special condition set to create an illusion of NPCs noticing player character with accordance to relationship rank)[]gestures to greet PC or NPCs
[]dialogue gestures according to relationship rank (PC with NPC, NPC with NPC), character personality and many other conditions

Compatibility
Just like my other mods PCG is technically compatible with everything.
Mods that change proportions of bodies are compatible, but will affect how animations from this mod are displayed. For example with FK's Diverse Racial Skeletons mage offsetarmscrossed will look off with tallest and shortest races.

Adds over 80 variants to the 'folded arms' animation overlay based on NPC armor type, personality, or role. Works with modded NPCs and uses Open Animation Replacer folders with .hkx files, no ESP/ESL. Highly popular with 10,317 endorsements and 4.7M downloads.
✨ Key Features
📊 Pros & Cons
✅ Pros
- Massive community adoption (10,317 endorsements, 4.7M downloads) — this is a staple for Skyrim players.
- No ESP/ESL means zero plugin load order headaches, just drop-in animation files.
- Works with modded NPCs, so your custom followers and overhauls get the same variety.
⚠️ Cons
- Requires Open Animation Replacer (OAR) — if you haven't installed that framework yet, you'll need to grab it first.
- Only affects the folded arms animation — if you want more comprehensive movement overhauls, this won't cover walking or combat.
- Last updated June 2026 — while recent, future Skyrim updates could break OAR compatibility, so keep an eye on the mod page.
For Skyrim players who want to add subtle life to NPCs without overhauling entire animation sets. Perfect for roleplayers and immersion seekers who notice repetitive idle poses. Skip if you're looking for full movement overhauls — this is a focused, single-animation enhancement.
💡 Beginner Tips
- Make sure Open Animation Replacer is installed and up to date before adding this mod — it's a hard dependency.
- Use a mod manager like MO2 or Vortex to install the .hkx folders; manual placement is possible but riskier.
- If you use other animation mods, check for conflicts in the OAR folder structure — priority settings in OAR can resolve overlaps.
