📋 About This Mod

What Does This SkyPatcher File Do?

First, a bit of background. The mod Apothecary - An Alchemy Overhaul edits every ingredient in the game so that they consistently reference their alchemical effects with the same magnitude and duration effect values. However, many other mods introduce entirely new ingredients that will not use these same normalized values. To achieve compatibility, the solution so far has been to employ numerous manual patches to align various mods (creature mods, quest mods, anything with new ingredients) with Apothecary.

With the power of the SkyPatcher utility, I've created a SkyPatcher configuration file that updates all ingredient records in your load order on runtime to easily maintain consistency with Apothecary. What this means is no more patches for all the different kinds of ingredients that other mods add. Some examples of mods that are easily patched with this SkyPatcher configuration file include the Creation Club Plague of the Dead or Dynamic Things Alternative or Wyrmstooth. These are just a handful of examples.

An Important Note on Compatibility

Mods that introduce entirely new effects that don't exist in the base game or its DLCs would still need custom patches. There is no way to automate patching new effects like this--one would need to review the new effects, determine how they fit into the Apothecary ecosystem, and make balance changes to integrate them into gameplay. To that end, the official patches found on the Apothecary mod page for the following Creation Club content are still recommended as they make important edits to new alchemy effects:

Apothecary Patch for Rare Curious

Apothecary Patch for Saints and Seducers

Any other mods, Creation Club content or otherwise, that add new ingredients that reference existing effects (e.g., "weakness to fire") can be handled by this SkyPatcher. The Fishing Creation Club content, for example, works great with this SkyPatcher as that Creation adds new ingredients but not new alchemy effects.

That's Great, Can I See How You Do This?

Sure, if you're curious, use the spoiler below to see the actual SkyPatcher commands I use. I reviewed every single ingredient and alchemy effect in the game, then constructed commands to filter ingredients by the magic effect, exclude base game ingredients already modified by Apothecary.esp, then set the magnitude and duration of the ingredients based on Apothecary's chosen values.
