📋 About This Mod
Description
This is a "patch" for The Elder Scrolls - Tomebound - Lore Spell Additions and Apocalypse - Magic of Skyrim that removes spells that are too similar, or simply rendered redundant, from any level lists. ESP flagged ESL, so won't contribute toward the 256 plugin limit. Requires both of the original mods.
This is a simple ESPFE plugin, which removes the necessary spells from each leveled list. Which spells stayed was based on my preference. Typically I favored keeping Tomebound's spells, with a few. As an added bonus you can still add removed spells+tomes to yourself through console, if you wanna be a special snow flake with uniquely named spells.
I've also included a standalone USSEP patch for Tomebound's magic effects, should anyone like to use it. Works with or without my main file.
Full list of removed leveled list entries in spoiler below.
Alteration Leveled Lists
- Removed Apocalypse's Detonate Lock spell tomes. (Tomebound has ranks of Unlock spells.)
- Removed Apocalypse's Milestone spell tomes. (Tomebound has it's own Mark and Recall spells.)
- Removed Tomebound's enemy hindrance spell tomes. (Apocalypse adds it's own slow-related spells.)
- Removed staves and/or scrolls using any of the above spells, where necessary.
Conjuration Leveled Lists
- Removed Apocalypse's Conjure Lich and Nether Lich spell tomes. (Tomebound has it's own version of Conjure Lich.)
- Removed staves and/or scrolls using any of the above spells, where necessary.
Destruction Leveled Lists
- Removed Apocalypse's Scorching Hands spell tomes. (Tomebound has it's own Touch spells already.)
- Removed Tomebound's Barrage spell tomes. (Apocalypse has Nova spells that render them redundant.)
- Removed staves and/or scrolls using any of the above spells, where necessary.
Restoration Leveled Lists
- Removed Apocalypse's disease related spell tomes. (Tomebound comes with it's own poison spells.)
- Removed Tomebound's Dispel spell tomes. (Apocalypse has an AoE Dispel in Illusion, and Restoration's very strong as-is.)
- Removed staves and/or scrolls using any of the above spells, where necessary.
Install & Update
Install through the mod manager of your choice. Then load the plugin beneath both Tomebound and Apocalypse in your load order.
Preferably you should start a new game. Alternatively, you'll need to wait 10+ days for leveled lists to reset with existing saves.
To update, uninstall the old version prior. Then install the newer file.
(Note: Updating is perfect
This patch removes duplicate or redundant spells from the leveled lists shared by Apocalypse - Magic of Skyrim and The Elder Scrolls - Tomebound - Lore Spell Additions, keeping your loot pools clean. It's an ESPFE plugin that doesn't count toward the plugin limit and includes a standalone USSEP patch for Tomebound's magic effects. For players who use both mods and want less clutter.
✨ Key Features
📊 Pros & Cons
✅ Pros
- Community-approved with 477 endorsements and nearly 14k downloads, so it's a proven fix for a common overlap issue.
- ESPFE means you don't waste a plugin slot, which is huge for load order hoarders.
- The author made deliberate choices on which spells to keep, so you get a curated experience rather than a lazy merge.
⚠️ Cons
- The patch is from 2020 and hasn't been updated since, so it might not be compatible with newer versions of Apocalypse or Tomebound.
- It's based on the author's personal preferences, so you might disagree with which spells were cut.
- Requires both original mods, so it's useless if you only run one of them.
For Skyrim players who run both Apocalypse and Tomebound and are tired of seeing near-identical spell tomes clogging up loot. If you're a purist who wants every spell available, skip this — it removes content by design.
💡 Beginner Tips
- Make sure you have both Apocalypse and Tomebound installed before adding this patch, and load it after both in your mod order.
- If you use the USSEP patch, load it after the main patch and after USSEP itself.
- You can still get removed spells via console commands if you want them — just look up the spell IDs from the mods' documentation.
