Description:

Windhelm, the first capital of the Nords, is a city overlooked by most retextures. Compared to cities like Whiterun and Riften, Windhelm received almost no attention simply because of how much of a nightmare it is to retexture it. A year or two ago, I couldn't find a Windhelm retexture I like so I started this project as a self-taught guide to texturing. Now, after months of procrastination and struggles, I can finally release this project.

This mod is a retexture for the city of Windhelm which aims to be vanilla friendly by replicating as many patterns and tiles from original textures as possible using modern methods. Vanilla details are extracted and combined with photorealistic materials to create a next-gen look. Every texture is covered from worn-out stoneworks to dirty mud grounds and aged woods. Offered in 2K and 4K with BC1 diffuse and BC7 normal maps. No parallax yet.

Compatibility:

Incompatible with mods doing the same (Overwrite other retextures)

Compatible with Better Windhelm Ground Meshes by default (highly recommended)

Reportedly compatible with Snowy AF Windhelm and Icy Windhelm

Should also be compatible with Windhelm Improvements (Snowy Windhelm)

Snow shader mods like Simplicity of Snow (my choice) or Better Dynamic Snow and snow retextures of your choice (I use Glacies)

Windhelm Fake Windows Fix

Windhelm Fence 3D (choose vanilla version to use my texture, choose otherwise if prefer ws' texture)

Glorious Doors of Skyrim (my textures include doors but Glorious Doors are far better with better meshes)
