I'd also like to thank Vohcaz for his mod True Dragonblood. Same concept, but not available for the Special Edition. Taking that into account, and the fact that it was created with PRE-Creation Kit tools and hasn't been updated since, I decided to make my own.
Lastly, I'm a player, like all of you, so i'd appreciate the feedback on balance and will gladly make changes if need be.
Adjusted Shout Cooldowns is a lightweight Skyrim mod that rebalances shout cooldown times across the base game, Dawnguard, and Dragonborn DLCs. It offers shorter cooldowns for most shouts, making them more usable in combat, while keeping some like Call Dragon and Storm Call long. Ideal for players who want a more dynamic shout experience without overhauling other mechanics.
✨ Key Features
📊 Pros & Cons
✅ Pros
- Community-tested with 238 endorsements and over 5,000 downloads, so it's got a solid track record.
- Makes shouts like Unrelenting Force and Fire Breath way more spammable, which is great for shout-focused builds.
- Covers all three DLCs, so you get a complete cooldown overhaul in one mod.
⚠️ Cons
- Last updated in 2018, so it might not be compatible with the latest Skyrim SE patches or other mods that alter shouts.
- The mod only changes cooldowns—no other shout tweaks, so if you want more depth, this won't cut it.
- Some shouts like Call Dragon and Storm Call still have long cooldowns, which might disappoint players expecting a full reduction.
For Skyrim players who love using shouts but hate waiting forever to use them again. If you're a shout-focused build or just want a more action-packed combat flow, this mod is a no-brainer. Skip it if you're looking for a complete shout overhaul with new mechanics—this is purely a cooldown tweak.
💡 Beginner Tips
- Since this mod only changes cooldowns, it's safe to install mid-playthrough, but make sure to load it after any mods that modify shouts to avoid conflicts.
- If you're using a mod manager like Vortex or MO2, just download and activate—no need for manual file placement.
- Check your load order: if you have other shout mods, put Adjusted Shout Cooldowns after them so its values take priority.
