📋 About This Mod
Have you ever been bothered by the fact that, despite there being 3 drum songs listed in the game files for the bards, all of them sound pretty much the same, and don't change rhythm much? Well, I set out to change this, since I love playing as a bard.
Here is a video with comparisons. The first three songs are vanilla, and the other three are the modded ones.

I personally think the modded songs are a lot more authentic and believable.
Bendir music by Eren Ergen, recorded by Barisbozkurt at Freesound.org - common usul of Ottoman music: Aksak Semai, Curcuna, and Yürük Semai.
These songs are licensed under the Attribution Noncommercial License, which gives users permission to copy, distribute and transmit the work as long as credit is given and there is no commercial use.
To install, place the files in your 'SteamSteamAppsCommonSkyrimData' folder. If you want to get rid of them, delete the files from skyrimDatasoundfxmusbarddrum.
Take a look here for a replacement for the lute tunes. And if you are looking for a replacement for flutes, I'd recommend Bard Flute Music - Touhou by JackDigital.
Alternative Bards Drum Songs is a small audio mod for Skyrim that replaces the drum tunes played by bards. With 256 endorsements and over 2,500 downloads, it's a niche but appreciated tweak for players who want more variety in tavern music. Last updated in 2013, it may be outdated for current game versions.
✨ Key Features
📊 Pros & Cons
✅ Pros
- Community-approved with 256 endorsements and 2,528 downloads
- Lightweight mod that doesn't affect gameplay or performance
- Adds variety to bard music without overhauling the audio system
⚠️ Cons
- Last updated in 2013 — may be incompatible with the latest Skyrim version
- Only affects drum tunes, so if you want more comprehensive bard audio changes, this won't cover it
For Skyrim players who spend a lot of time in taverns and want to break the monotony of the default bard drumming. Also for mod collectors who appreciate small, focused audio tweaks. Skip if you're looking for major overhauls or if you're on a newer Skyrim version where compatibility is uncertain.
💡 Beginner Tips
- Since this mod is from 2013, check if you're playing Skyrim Classic (original) — it may not work with Special Edition without conversion.
- Use a mod manager like Vortex or Mod Organizer 2 to easily enable/disable the mod and avoid manual file conflicts.
- If you're unsure about compatibility, try the mod on a test save before committing to a playthrough.
