Vortex Modlist Converter (Tool)

IMPORTANT READ ME

This is a tool repository for updating the Vortex Modlist Converter (VMC) app source code. You can download the VMC app from here:

To update Vortex Modlist Converter source code you will need the ATAU (App Template Auto Updater) file and the source code from VMC. (link above)

After you have all the requirements then you can begin the update process.

Create a folder somewhere on your computer where you want work with this. From now on this will be called the "Project Folder"

Inside your Project Folder paste ATAU and the unpacked VMC source code.

The inside of your Project folder needs 2 items; ATAU.exe and the folder that contains VMC source code.

Now create a new folder and call it anything you want. This will be our App Template source code folder.

Then run ATAU. It will prompt you for the absolute path to your App Template folder. Paste the path to the folder you just created in ATAU.

Make sure your computer is connected to the internet before saying yes to downloading the App Template.

After ATAU has completed downloading the newest version of App Template; it will ask you which version of your app you want to update.

Assuming you did the previous steps correctly; you should see the VMC source code folder name in the list of available versions.

Select it by typing the folder name or the number next to the folder name.

If all above steps were completed correctly then there will be a folder named NEW_VERSION inside your project folder.

This folder is the updated VMC source code and all that needs to be done now is recompile the app!

Make sure to update your version/build number in globals.py and pyproject.toml before compiling.

DO NOT for ANY reason ignore warnings or errors! They are being shown for a reason!

Inside of App Template or VMC source code open the pyproject.toml file. My developer information is in there.

All my apps can be found in my personal projects.

If there are breaking changes that ATAU is warning you about then you will need to know some python to fix these errors.

All breaking changes should be documented in the change log in the README.md file inside of App Template.

Find the version your old app is using and read all the newer change log updates.

If an update breakes ATAU it will be marked with a BREAKS_ATAU = True variable.

The description will have the details of what is broken by that update and how to fix it.

Like I said before; you will need to know some python to fix these issues.

How to compile correctly:

This part assumes you already did the above steps and know at least the basics of Flet, and app compiling.

This project has been set up so that after you have set up a virtual environment with all requirements; the basic Flet build command works.

From inside of your venev (Terminal in code editor) cd into your Project Folder, then cd into the updated version of VMC you previously made.

Inside your venev (terminal), inside of your new version folder, type; "flet build windows" (without the quotes)
