UET - Universal Ultimate Engine Tweaks

After over 2 years of iterative direct testing, researching and feedback collection from over 1. 7 million downloads with 60+ Unreal Engine 5 and 4 games, I would like to share my definitive, optimized, custom "Engine.ini" for Unreal Engine which can be used universally with all UE games.

My goal was to just include as many optimizations as possible (both for CPU/GPU/RAM/SSD) in order to remove most stuttering, improve performance, reduce input latency and improve picture clarity (e.g. by removing Film Grain & Chromatic Aberration, optimizing Motion Blur to reduce smearing, optimizing DLSS/FSR/XeSS Upscaling and Anti-Aliasing to reduce ghosting and shimmering) all without any visual loss nor introducing glitches or crashes.

What to choose between the "VRR" and "No VRR" mod variants?

VRR stands for Variable Refresh Rate, which can translate to G-Sync for NVIDIA or AMD Freesync for AMD.

You need to cross check if it is enabled both on your NVIDIA/AMD Control Panel and the Display itself (Monitor/TV)

If yes on both, use the "VRR" variant of the mod.

If no, use the "No VRR" variant instead.

Installation Instructions

1. Open any UE5/4 game at least once and close it

2. Download my custom Engine.ini (UET) of your choice

%localappdata%\\Saved\Config\Windows

For Microsoft Store / Xbox App version only:

%localappdata%\\Saved\Config\WinGDK

For Linux / Steam Machine / Steam Deck version only:

<SteamLibrary-folder>/steamapps/compatdata//pfx/drive_c/users/steamuser/AppData/Local//Saved/Config/Windows/

If you are not sure what or are exactly, go to PCGamingWiki and search for them in your game "Configuration file(s) location" section, like below:

(Once you have the full path you can just copy it, press "Win + R" , paste it in the box it will appear and click Enter to end up in that folder directly)

4. Now you may have two cases:

a. If there is no Engine.ini in that folder -> extract and paste my modded Engine.ini (UET) you just downloaded (as is) there

b. If the game has created its own Engine.ini file (usually just a with its own lines) -> copy all the lines from my custom Engine.ini (UET) you just downloaded from my "ENGINE SETTINGS" section and below, then paste them below the stock lines you have, like the following as an example, then save the file and set it to "Read-only" attribute from its Properties (it's very important)

5. Play! :)

(To Uninstall just delete the modded Engine.ini, the game will use its defaults again on next launch)

DO NOT USE TOGETHER WITH OTHERS "OPTIMIZATION" MODS

(any other mod will be compatible)
