Mod Finder

Description

This is an MO2 plugin which analyses a modlist.txt and gives you a report listing the Nexus Mods page for each entry. You can run the whole modlist or just the sections you want, and it generates a colour-coded .xlsx or .html (or both) report with clickable links on every row. If you're rebuilding your modlist (like I am), or want to explore the lists shared on loadorderlibrary, it saves you searching for every mod by hand.

I built this tool with the help of AI, to help with my Skyrim SE playthrough. I'd only kept my old modlist.txt instead of the install directory or metadata which MO2 generates and searching for 2k+ mods manually is quite tedious.

This is only a reference tool, and will not be able to download, install, endorse, track or change anything in your setup.

This tool was built specifically with Skyrim SE in mind, as that is the only game I have modded through MO2. If you would like to fiddle with it for your game and its Nexus-hosted mods, please feel free (annotated source code is available in the optional files).

Installation 

Unzip the latest release into your MO2 plugins directory and restart MO2.

Main Features

• []Section picker — pick which parts of the modlist to run, so you're not committed to the entire list at once. Running a full modlist is fine but expect it to take a while: test lists of 2. 5k–3. 8k mods took 22 to 45 minutes (also depends on your connection and if Nexus is having a bad day).[/]

  []Three confidence bands — green for a confident match, amber for one worth checking, red where a manual search will be required. [/]

  []Blanks instead of bad guesses — where the best match would point you at the wrong mod, the columns are left empty and you get a Nexus search link instead.[/]

  [].xlsx, .html, or both — the web report is self-contained and opens in any browser, no spreadsheet software needed. Every report is timestamped, so nothing overwrites.[/]

  []Cached results — re-running the same list is near instant.  The cache is created in ...\plugins\ModFinder\cache and a Clear Cache button forces fresh data when versions look stale.[/]

• []Results depend on how the list was named. MO2 mod names are whatever the person who built the list typed. They get renamed, shortened, versioned, or given a name that never matched the Nexus page at all, and patches and FOMOD options often have no page of their own. Where a name has drifted too far, the tool will say so rather than guess. [/]
