📋 About This Mod

An MO2 2.5+ tool for modlist authors. Scans your downloads and installed mods, then checks every Nexus mod, file ID, and non-Nexus directURL to flag anything removed, hidden, or moderated. Exports CSV/JSON/Markdown reports and can re-fetch

# Nexus Availability Checker

A Mod Organizer 2 tool plugin for modlist authors and curators. It asks Nexus whether every mod and file your list depends on is still there, and checks your non-Nexus links while it's at it. Think of it as a dry-run download pass: no archives are fetched, just answers about what still exists. If something is missing you can download all of the files without needing to go to the mod page (Nexus Premium)

Same as my one in Skyrim. https://www.nexusmods.com/skyrimspecialedition/mods/191390 added here as it was mentioned to me on discord to do so.

## Requirements

- Mod Organizer 2. 5. 0 or newer (needs the Qt6 Python plugin runtime)

- MO2 linked to your Nexus account (Settings, Nexus, Connect to Nexus)

Drop the .py file into `<Mod Organizer install>\plugins\` and restart. It appears under the Tools (puzzle piece) menu.

You are never asked for an API key. All Nexus traffic goes through MO2's own authenticated connection, which also means MO2's rate-limit handling applies.

## What it can do

Find removed Nexus mods. Reads every `.meta` in your downloads folder plus your installed mods, then queries each unique mod page. Anything deleted, hidden, unpublished, or pulled by moderation gets flagged with the status Nexus reports.

Find removed files on live mod pages. An author replacing a file leaves the mod page up while the exact `fileID` your list pins disappears. Optional per-file verification catches that.

Check non-Nexus sources. `directURL` links are validated over HTTP: dead links, links that answer 200 with a "not found" web page instead of a file, and files whose size no longer matches your local archive (a sign of a silent re-upload). `manualURL` entries get a landing-page check. `ips4` metas are called out as deprecated.

Check the Wabbajack whitelist. Compares each `directURL` against Wabbajack's `ServerWhitelist.yml` and flags prefixes that will be rejected at compile time even though the link works.

Report. Results export to CSV, JSON and Markdown, with one-click copying of flagged mod URLs. Confirmed-good results are cached (default 7 days) so a large list can be spread across more than one day of the Nexus API quota.

Re-fetch missing archives. Anything confirmed available but no longer in your downloads folder can be queued straight into MO2's downloader. `directURL` sources have their key written back into the new `.meta` so the Wabbajack source isn't lost. For everything else there's a one-click list of manual download links.

## What it cannot do

It does not check file hashes, and should not be used as a hash check. It asks whether a file still exists; it never downloads or hashes anything. A file can keep the same ID and be re-uploaded with different content, and only the file-size comparison on `directURL` entries hints at that. Wabbajack's own compilation and validation remain the authority on file integrity. This tool tells you what is gone, not what is correct.

It checks the last meta file for a mod. So if you merge mods, it will check the last file merged. It will still validate downloaded archives.

It cannot verify `manualURL` contents. Only that the page loads. This is the same limit Wabbajack's list validator has, and the reason its docs put the burden on the author.

MEGA links cannot be verified at all. MEGA serves an identical page whether a file is live or deleted, so those are reported as needing a manual look rather than given a false pass. Google Drive, MediaFire, Dropbox and Yandex give meaningful 404s, but a success there only proves the landing page loaded.

Automatic downloading needs Nexus Premium. MO2's download API is Premium-only, which is a Nexus restriction, not a plugin one. Without Premium, use the manual link list, which opens the mod-manager download prompt and still hands the file to MO2. Automatic downloads are also limited to the game MO2 is currently managing.

Files with no recorded `fileID` get a mod-page check only. If a download's `.meta` was deleted, the file ID is recovered from the mod's `meta.ini` where possible, but it isn't always there.

It is not a Wabbajack compiler or validator. It doesn't read `.wabbajack` files, modlist definitions, or collections, and it doesn't check redistribution permissions.

A flag is a prompt to look, not a verdict. Network errors, rate limits and host hiccups all land in the report as inconclusive rather than being hidden. One known false positive: if your Nexus account has adult content disabled, adult mods can return not-fou
