📋 About This Mod
Fixes false outdated warnings, date/junk installed versions, and missing Nexus Mod IDs in MO2. Local-only repairs with real-update protection, verified backups, and one-click restore.
MO2 Version Fixer
False update warnings, broken versions, and missing Nexus Mod IDs — repaired safely and locally.
MO2 Version Fixer scans your Mod Organizer 2 installation for incorrect mod metadata and offers safe, reviewable repairs.
It can fix false outdated warnings, replace date or junk version numbers, recover missing Nexus Mod IDs, and repair both fields together when necessary. Anything uncertain or potentially representing a real update is left untouched.
Fix False Outdated Warnings
MO2 can sometimes mark a mod as outdated even though the installed version is equal to or newer than the stored Nexus version.
This commonly happens with letter suffixes, hotfix labels, prefixes, or different version-numbering schemes.
Examples — installed version shown first:
-
[]1. 1. 3HF1 vs 1. 1. 3[/]
[]2. 20. 0A1 vs 2. 14. 0[/]
[]6. 11. 0. 0 vs 6. 9. 0. 0[/]
[]1. 1. 0. 0b vs 1. 1. 0. 0[/]
When the installed version is safely determined to be newer, the plugin corrects MO2's stored version and removes the false warning.
Exact non-numeric matches such as Alpha-41 vs Alpha-41 are also recognized correctly.
Repair Date and Junk Versions
MO2 may occasionally save a download date or malformed value as the installed version.
Examples include:
-
[]d2026. 9. 23. 0[/]
[]2026. 04. 15. 0[/]
[]5/8/2026[/]
[]5. 0. 0. 0/8/2026[/]
The plugin searches local download metadata and the original archive filename for the real version.
Supported examples:
-
[]SMIM SE 2-08-659-2-08. 7z → 2. 08[/]
[]Guards Armor Replacer-22671-5-5a-1551221031. 7z → 5. 5a[/]
[]Alternate Conversation Camera: d2026. 9. 23. 0 → 2. 4. 6. 0[/]
Legacy filenames, letter suffixes, space-separated versions, and prefixes such as v, f, r, and ver are supported.
Recover Missing Nexus Mod IDs
Version 2. 3 adds recovery for mods whose Nexus Mod ID is missing or incorrectly stored as modid=0.
The plugin can recover the ID from local information such as:
-
[]The Nexus URL stored in the mod's meta.ini.[/]
[]MO2 download metadata files.[/]
[]Standard Nexus archive filenames.[/]
[]Wabbajack-style archive filenames.[/]
This restores MO2's connection between the installed mod and its Nexus page without contacting Nexus.
If a mod has both a missing Mod ID and a broken installed version, the plugin can repair both fields together in one operation.
Protects Real Updates
The plugin is intentionally conservative.
If a newer version may genuinely be available, the mod is classified as a possible real update and is not changed. Ambiguous results are placed under manual review instead of being guessed.
Additional safeguards prevent unsafe suffix downgrades, such as replacing 1. 0b with 1. 0a.
MO2 entries marked with Ignore Updates are skipped automatically.
Ignored and Special Folders
The scanner avoids entries that should not be treated as normal Nexus mods, including:
-
[]MO2 separators.[/]
[]Backup folders.[/]
[]The overwrite folder.[/]
[]Ignored mods.[/]
[]Recognized local or generated folders such as compiled shader caches.[/]
Verified Backups and Restore
Before changing any meta.ini file, the plugin creates a timestamped restore point inside:
VersionSanityFixer_Backups\YYYYMMDD-HHMMSS-apply
Each restore point includes a manifest and SHA-256 checksums for integrity verification.
Changes involving multiple fields are written together. If a write fails, the operation is rolled back to avoid leaving partially modified metadata.
Use Restore Backup from the plugin window whenever you want to revert an earlier repair.
Installation
[]Download and Place VersionFixer.py inside MO2's plugins folder.[/]
[]Restart Mod Organizer 2.[/]
[]Open Version Sanity Fixer from MO2's Tools menu.[/]
