MO2 Collection Installer

MO2 Collection Installer is a Mod Organizer 2 plugin that allows you to download and install Nexus Mods Collections directly through MO2.

If you prefer Mod Organizer 2 but have found a Nexus Collection you want to use, this plugin is designed to bridge that gap.

This is a public BETA release. It has been successfully tested with Fallout 4 Collections, including automatic installation of saved FOMOD choices, but wider testing across different games, Collections and MO2 setups is now needed.

Although this mod page is hosted under Skyrim Special Edition, MO2 Collection Installer is not Skyrim-specific. It is designed as a multi-game MO2 plugin and detects the game currently being managed by MO2.

Main Features

Direct Nexus Collection installation through MO2

Give MO2 Collection Installer a Nexus Collection URL and it will analyse the Collection before downloading its mods. Once you confirm the pre-installation check, the specified Nexus mod files are downloaded and installed through Mod Organizer 2.

Automatic FOMOD choices

Where the Collection author has published saved FOMOD installer choices, MO2 Collection Installer can automatically reproduce those selections during installation.

If saved choices are unavailable, the plugin warns you that manual installer input may be required.

Game compatibility checking

The plugin checks the Collection against the game currently being managed by MO2.

If you accidentally select a Collection for a different game, you will receive a clear WRONG GAME warning and installation will be blocked.

Game version checking

Your currently installed game version is displayed directly in the plugin.

Where suitable version information is available from the Collection, the pre-installation check compares the Collection's recorded game version with your installed game version.

If the versions differ, you will receive a warning before installing. A version difference does not automatically mean the Collection is incompatible, so you can still continue if you choose.

Pre-installation check

Before any mod files are installed, the plugin gives you a clear summary showing the Collection name, game, revision, number of mods, game compatibility, game-version compatibility, automatic FOMOD readiness and number of saved installer choices.

Green indicators mean the relevant check has passed or the required information is available. Orange warnings indicate something that may require your attention. A red wrong-game warning prevents you from accidentally installing a Collection intended for another game.

Installation

1. Close Mod Organizer 2 before installing the plugin.

Extract the downloaded MO2 Collection Installer ZIP.

Inside your Mod Organizer 2 installation directory, open the folder named plugins.

Place the folder named mo2_collection_installer inside the plugins folder.

The finished location should be:

Mod Organizer 2\plugins\mo2_collection_installer\

Inside the mo2_collection_installer folder you should see plugin.py, init.py and the other files supplied with the download.

Do not install the ZIP through MO2 as though it were a normal game mod. MO2 Collection Installer is an MO2 plugin and belongs inside the plugins directory of Mod Organizer 2.

Once the files are in the correct location, start Mod Organizer 2.

How To Use

1. Open Mod Organizer 2 with the game you want to mod.

Launch MO2 Collection Installer from MO2.

The plugin will display the game currently being managed by MO2 and your installed game version.

Check these before choosing a Collection.

2. Open Nexus Collections.

Click Open Nexus Collections inside MO2 Collection Installer.

This opens the Nexus Collections page for the game currently being managed by MO2.

3. Choose the Collection you want to install.

Open the Collection's page on Nexus Mods.

You must copy the URL while you are viewing the Collection's MODS tab.

Do not copy the URL from the Collection's About page. The plugin requires the Collection URL from the MODS section.

The process is:

Open the Collection → Click MODS → Copy the URL from your browser's address bar.

4. Paste the URL into MO2 Collection Installer.

Return to MO2 and paste the copied URL into the Collection URL box.
