FNS Changelog Tracker

A lightweight revision and changelog tool for Mod Organizer 2 Mod List authors.

Instead of trying to remember every change made between releases, take a snapshot when a revision is finalized. When the next release is ready, compare that snapshot against the current MO2 profile and generate a clean Markdown changelog.

- Added mods

- Removed mods

- Updated mods

- Mods enabled since the previous snapshot

- Mods disabled since the previous snapshot

Workflow

Release Revision 43 -> Take Snapshot -> Work normally -> Prepare Revision 44 -> Compare -> Review -> Copy/Save Markdown -> Finalize Revision 44.

Snapshots are lightweight JSON metadata files and do not copy or archive your installed mods.

Installation

Drop `FNS_Changelog_Tracker.py` into your MO2 `plugins` folder and restart MO2.

Plugin data is stored in:

`plugins\data\FNS_Changelog_Tracker\`

This tool is designed around MO2 itself rather than any particular game's plugin/load-order format, so it is intended to work with any MO2-supported game where the normal Python plugin API is available.

Warning!

If you are a Mod List author for Wabbajack, you should set the following folders/files to Ignore when compiling:

`plugins\FNS_Changelog_Tracker.py`

`plugins\data\FNS_Changelog_Tracker\`

This is because:

A. Players don't care how the sausage is made.

B. If you ship a data folder that is missing data from your machine, on to their machine, MO2 will consistently search for folders and files that aren't there! This could cause errors and/or lag.
