📋 About This Mod

Preset focused on stability and performance in UE5. Reduces stuttering and crashes with async shader compile, optimizes CPU/GPU, and limits VRAM to prevent issues. Disables Lumen, dynamic GI, and heavy virtual shadows while keeping textures

Optimization Preset – Stability & PerformanceThis preset was made to tackle the main issues players usually face in Unreal Engine 5 games:

  • []Stuttering caused by real-time shader compilation.

[]Freezes/crashes due to memory usage and poorly optimized pipelines.

[]High CPU/GPU usage from heavy effects like Lumen, Nanite, and virtual shadows.

[]VRAM issues caused by unbalanced texture streaming.

On this page, you'll find several optimizations with different end goals. There are three files focused on improving game performance through the graphics engine, and another focused on the game menu.

For good optimization, I recommend using one of the three options that help with graphics engine optimization: Lumen-RT-Performance, GPU-CPU Balancing and Ups, Optimization and Fluidity, and Optimization-Performance.

The GameUserSettings option provides an extra FPS boost. You can use one of the graphics engine optimizations and then GameUserSettings for even more improvement, or use just one file.

Note: For complete optimization, I recommend using one of the three files and then GameUserSettings to get the best possible performance.

I'm creating several versions from optimized to maximum graphics, see which one you want to use and then paste it in the right place: C:\Users\your name\AppData\Local\SHf\Saved\Config\Windows

🚀 General Performance (less stutter/freezes)
  • []bAllowMultiThreadedShaderCompile=True

→ Allows shaders to compile on multiple CPU cores simultaneously, reducing stutter.[]r. UseAsyncShaderPrecompilation=1

→ Prevents the game from freezing while compiling shaders during gameplay.[]r. ShaderPipelineCache. StartupMode=3

→ Loads shaders at startup, minimizing stutter later in the game.[]r. ShaderPipelineCache. BackgroundBatchTime=0

→ Forces the full cache to load before gameplay.[]gc. AllowParallelGC=True / gc. CreateGCClusters=True

→ Enables garbage collection to run in parallel, reducing micro-freezes.[]r. AsyncPipelineCompile=1

→ Compiles pipelines in parallel, avoiding hitching.[]r. AsyncCompute=1

→ Improves GPU utilization by executing tasks asynchronously.[]r. CompileShadersForDevelopment=0

→ Prevents unnecessary shaders from being loaded, saving memory.

💡 Benefit: Greatly reduces shader-related stutter and improves overall stability.

🎨 Rendering (disabling Lumen & heavy RT effects)
  • []r. Lumen=0 / r. Lumen. Reflections=0

→ Disables Lumen global illumination and reflections (very GPU heavy).[]r. GlobalIllumination=0

→ Turns off dynamic global illumination.[]r. Shadow. Virtual. Enable=0

→ Disables Virtual Shadow Maps, which consume lots of VRAM.[]r. DistanceFieldAO=0

→ Turns off Ambient Occlusion via Distance Fields.[]r. AllowOcclusionQueries=1

→ Keeps basic visibility optimizations enabled.

💡 Benefit: Removes the heaviest rendering systems (Lumen, GI, VSM) to free GPU resources and boost FPS.

🖼️ Textures & Streaming
  • []r. Streaming. FullyLoadUsedTextures=1

→ Preloads textures to avoid pop-in.[]r. Streaming. DefragDynamicBounds=1

→ Reorganizes textures in memory to reduce stutter.[]PoolSizeVRAMPercentage=80

→ Uses up to 80% of VRAM, leaving headroom to avoid crashes.

💡 Benefit: Faster texture streaming while avoiding VRAM overload.

🌿 Visual Details (balanced)
  • []r. FilmGrain=0, r. MotionBlurQuality=0, r. LensFlare=0, r. ChromaticAberration=0

→ Disables post-processing effects that consume GPU and blur the image.[]r. Tonemapper. Sharpen=0. 3

    → Adds light sharpening for a crisper image.[]r. FidelityFX. FSR2. Sharpness=0. 6

    → Keeps FSR 2 upscaling sharpness at a good balance.[]r. TemporalAA. Algorithm=1

→ Uses stable TAA to avoid flickering.

💡 Benefit: Cleaner visuals
