What is Ultra+?

Ultra+ provides comprehensive engine tuning, visual enhancements, and performance balancing to maximize your game experience for as many ranges of hardware as possible.

Support: All support is provided via Discord. We do not provide support on Nexus. There are many people willing to help in Discord.

Updates: Mod updates are provided first via UPM and Discord. Nexus is often out of date.

Feature Requests: Feel free to request features in Discord. We can modify most things in UE games now including some game asset modifications.

Quick Start

• [] Install using Ultra+ Manager (UPM) (recommended) or manual installation

  [] Configure settings using UPM or edit config files

  [] Press F12 in-game to apply settings (disable Steam screenshots if conflicting or change the Apply Settings keybind in UPM)

  [] Load presets: apply uplus_defaults then a quality preset (low/medium/high/veryhigh/epic)

  [] Check game-specific tips below for detailed information

  Manual Installation: Extract the mod files to your game directory.

  If you have older Ultra+ versions in Silent Hill 2\SHProto\Content\Paks (not Paks/~mods), delete them before installing the current mod version as they will conflict.

  Important: Do not use Engine.ini mods with Ultra+ as they will likely cause crashes or visual issues. Ultra+ already includes comprehensive engine optimizations.

  Overview

  U+ for Silent Hill 2 significantly improves the visual and performance problems of vanilla providing a much more stable image with a lot less stuttering.

  Game Tips

  • [] In game RT setting does not toggle RT off and on live

    [] FOV requires manual interaction, F12 to set and F10 to reset for cutscenes

    [] Simple RT mode should still have better lighting at much less of a cost

    []New RT Shadows is a drastic improvement and also improves performance and reduces stuttering in many locations

    Add-ons

    • [] NoCharacterLight: Disables all fake character lighting for both James and Maria.

    • RTShadows: Enables RT shadowcasting for most artificial lights, enables virtual shadowmaps for the rest. Fixes issues with various light sources including in cutscenes. Requires DLSS preset L/M or RR for denoising. If experiencing a dim flashlight, rename the files to ~UltraPlus_RTShadows_99_P (resolves mod conflicts).

      AutoApplyConfig - off,on

      automatically reload settings when config changes - primarily to be used with the UPM overlay

      BetterReflectionSDFs - game,off,on,on_epic

      Increases the resolution of meshes in global software lumen space, most noticeable in reflections

      Bloom - game/0-3

      Bloom intensity (0. 0 = off, 1. 0 = default, 2. 0 = double, game = use game default)

      ChromaticAberration - game,off,on

      Recommend disabling in most games as it often just blurs the image for no benefit

      Denoiser - game,none,temporal,temporal_high,rayreconstruction,rayreconstruction_temporalgihigh

      Changes global illumination and reflection denoising - allows enabling ray reconstruction - temporal high settings increase the amount of temporal information to reduce noise at the cost of ghosting

      DepthOfField - game,off,on,on_less_blurry

      depth of field control - off reduces noise in cutscenes

      DynamicFPS - game/0-240

      Target FPS for dynamic adjustment (0 = off, 30-240 = target framerate) - press ALT + F12 to disable dynamic FPS and save current settings
