📋 About This Mod

(Requires Halton's original P32-8BWH). (This pack includes the P32-8BWHs in all four liveries they have carried in real life; Pepsi-Can, Phase 4, Amtrak California and Phase 5. There are two number variants for each livery). (Be sure to check out my YouTube channel, where I have a video showing these Dash 8 re-skins in action). General Electric built twenty P32-8BWH locomotives in 1990 and 1991. They were ordered by Amtrak who were looking for a replacement for the aging F40PH engines (first introduced in 1976), and the design is a bit unusual for a passenger engine. In fact the P32-8BWH’s design is derived from freight engines like the B40-8W. Some technical specifications for the P32-8BWH are as follows: Length - 20. 22 metres Width - 3. 029 metres Height - 4. 67 metres Weight - 124 metric tonnes Prime Mover - GE 7FDL-12 Power Output - 3,200 horsepower Top Speed - 166 kilometres per hour The engines were put to work on long-distance passenger trains throughout the United States, and could be seen in places as far apart from each other as Los Angeles (California), Chicago (Illinois) and Miami (Florida) whilst operating alongside the F40PH and P40DC engines. Incidentally the delayed production of the Genesis locomotives was another major reason why the P32-8BWHs were even built. When they first entered service, the engines were painted in a unique livery that earned them the nickname ‘Pepsi Cans’. Throughout the years some of them were painted in Amtrak Phase 4 colours, but nowadays 18 of the 20 engines carry Phase 5. In recent times the ‘Dash 8s’ - as some people call them - have been largely relegated to maintenance-of-way trains and shunting coaches around in the yards in Los Angeles and Chicago. Two of these engines - the former Nos. 501 and 502 - were sold to the California Department of Transportation and renumbered to 2051 and 2052 respectively. The Caltrans pair are now used to haul Amtrak California services such as the ‘San Joaquin’ and ‘Capitol Corridor’. Im
