Arcadia & Betsy River Railroad Part 1 – Arcadia Trestle 1880s

Arcadia’s Railroad In 1881, Henry Starke began construction on a narrow-gauge railway to carry logs to early Arcadia, Michigan. In 1893, he began construction of a standard gauge railroad that would eventually reach Copemish 21 miles away. The Trestle Near Arcadia About 2. 5 miles east of Arcadia, the engine in this photo is pulling flat cars loaded with logs on their way to the Starke sawmill. I haven’t made the diorama narrow gauge, because the livery I had previously made was standard and will be used with more historical accuracy in the next parts. The trestle bridge I created myself. Though it looks a little odd compared to more modern trestles, this is on the workshop so you can use it too. It has simple snapping on the ends. The livery is the No. 5 Engine & Tender. I did not make the log cars but since I can no longer find them on the Workshop I’m not sure who to credit. Whoever did these you’re awesome! They’re a little modern for 1880s, but its close enough I think. The Log Cabin & things were from the NG Logging Camp remake, which I’ll be reusing for this series.
