Mechanical Computer- Differential Analyzer

📋 About This Mod
This is a differential analyzer, a type of mechanical analog computer for solving differential equations. This one solves the differential equation Ydotdot=-Y. For best results turn off(W), set Y(QE) to 0 and Ydot(AD) to 0. 35, and turn back on(W) One solution to this equation is Y=sin(t) and Ydot=cos(t), so it will oscillate back and forth. HOW IT WORKS: Each of the large spinning squares which turns a wheel is what's called an integrator. Meaning, they integrate a mathematical function. The large spinning squares are connected to big motors which provide the time input. The input is the sliding rod which moves the wheel horizontally. And the output is the spinning rod connected to the wheel If you input a rate a change, IE, a rotation rate, into the elevator which moves the rod, the wheel's position on the disk changes. This also means the wheel's rotation rate changes. So it outputs a rotation rate depending on where it is. If you're confused, here's a great youtube video on how it works: https://youtu.be/5GZa63x3k60?t=535 The lower integrator integrates ydotdot(the second derivative of y with respect to time), outputting ydot(the first derivative of y with respect to time) This is integrated by the upper integrator to get y, which is connected to some gears to reverse the rotation and get -y, which is input into the lower integrator. So I do cheat with the integrator outputs a bit. The torque output from an integrator is very low, so an unusual device called a torque amplifier is needed. A torque amplifier takes in a rotating shaft and outputs the same rotation except with more torque. This is not something which can be done with gears because gears trade torque and rotation rate. This can be done completely mechanically, but it's pretty hard to do it in roboco, so I implemented a torque amplifier in scripting. WHY? Why should we care about integrating differential equations? Integrating differential equations is a big part of what physics enginess do. With a cou
