Strand Points 256 Unlock

Description:

This mod allows you to use any hairstyle created with 256 points on hair render/guides for Rise of the Tomb Raider, having more points increases the curve resolution and consequently, improves the hair quality and the hair physics, mainly for longer or complex hairstyles.

-Read and follow the steps it takes only a few minutes:

If you already have Strand Points 32 Unlock installed, you will have to revert it to install the new one:

(Skip to step 2 if you haven't installed it)

• []To uninstall the patched version, go to the game on steam>properties>Installed files>Verify the game files (this will bring the game to the original state)[/]

Download the hair patch

Drag and drop the game .exe and press enter

Play the game

5. Important extra information:

-Once you unlock the 256 points, you won't be able to use hairstyles created with 16 or 32 points (the game will crash), so in case you want to use the 16/32 again, you will have to revert to the og game, and install again the Strand Points 32 Unlock if the hair mod needs it

-Make sure that the last version of ROTTR is installed before applying the patch.

-Install it only once, after installing it, the game will keep allowing you to use 256 points, there's no need to re-install it (unless the game gets updated).

-You can uninstall the patched version whenever you want to, to do it, follow Step 1.

Yes but I need to work on it.

• []Can I use other hairstyles even if they don't have 32 points?[/]

Mostly no, hair mods with 16/32 points can work too but they need to use the 256 points format.

• []Can hairstyles that specify they use 256 points work without the patcher?[/]

No, if you skip the Strand Points 256 Unlock mod installation, Lara's hair will appear broken/glitched in-game since the engine expects 16 points.

• []Does it gives lag? and what do I do if the London or X scene does not load, how do I keep playing?[/]

I've been testing the 256 points, and the gameplay is smoother than when using the Strand Points 32 unlock, even so the hair is being pushed to have x16 times more resolution so it might impact on some devices, if something does not load, turn off Purehair for that moment and if it keeps crashing Verify the game files and use Lara OG hair until that scene ends.

• []If I'm a creator do I need a specific blender add-on to export with 256 guides?[/]

Yes but I'm still learning and investigating, perhaps 512 points unlock works someday so I want to keep testing it. Right now exporting a hairstyle with 256 points takes around 2-3h.

• []How to fix "Python is not being recognized"?[/]

Make sure to install the 3. 13 version or an updated one from the Microsoft Store or download directly from Python.

• []My game randomly crashes, how do I fix it?

The game expects every purehair hair to use the 256 points format so if a hair appears in-game and does not use it, it will crash. To fix that turn off Purehair and move forward a little, then activate it again.
