DLSS5 neural rendering setup for Rise of the Tomb Rider

here i will describe how to enable DLSS5 on RTX 2000 up to RTX 5000 gpu cards.

Be aware that low end cards of any era could struggle... a lot, but try to be sure.

(Pictures taken on my 3060 RTX laptop gpu ... on 12 fps. 1440p so not playable there. But my 5090 has no problems at 120 fps 4k so... if  you are somwhere in between try it.)

YOU NEED SOME FILES FIRST:

1) RESHADED WITH ADDON SUPPORT:

"Download ReShade X. X. X with full add-on support"

X. X. X means use the newest actual version

2) My reshade preset (or your own, just do not use AO and fancy stuff to start with IMHO), download it here unzip and and put my:

to your Rise of tomb rider folder, it should be for steam:

C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Rise of the Tomb Raider

3) DLSS5 Files download:

dlss5-downloads

there you download:

- latest streamline archive f.e.: DLSS310. 8. 0-Streamline2. 13.zip

- latest renodx-dlss5.addon64

- OPTIONAL Patched DLSS-NR for RTX20, RTX30, and RTX40: nvngx_dlssnr.dll

(if you are on that cards, nothing is needed for 5000 owners instead)

INSTALLATION:

1) put my  ROTTR.ini

C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Rise of the Tomb Raider

2) install reshade by executing the installer

- Choose Rise of Tomb Rider executable from the list

- DirectX 10/11/12

- Effects to install - > Browse -> select my ini ROTTR.ini

in your steam path again f.e.:

C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Rise of the Tomb Raider

3) rename d3dcompiler_47.dll to d3dcompiler_47.dll.old  !or else it will not work!

(it will force reshade and the game to use te most up to date you have on your systrem, not doing so will give you the erreor in reshade:

DLSS5 Generic proxy encode compilation failed with HRESULT 0x8876086c: error X3506: unrecognized compiler target 'cs_5_1')

4) copy and overwrite if prompted the content of  DLSS310. 8. 0-Streamline2. 13.zip (or later) again directly to:

C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Rise of the Tomb Raider

5) copy or move the downloaded renodx-dlss5.addon64 again to your:

C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Rise of the Tomb Raider

6) OPTIONAL for non RTX 5000 owners overwrite the present  nvngx_dlssnr.dll with the one you downloade

7) OPTIONALLY now update dlss files with DLSS SWAPPER to newest version.

Start the game with DLSS active in the settings, no matter what quality level.

With F6 you can toggle on og the DLSS5.

With POS1 you can show the reshade menu.

For the pictures showcase i used default lightning and crancked up all optiones to 2 while controlling the overall "effect" through:

overall intensity, se to 1. 5.

It changes characters quiet a lot. Eventually too much.

You still can play with the values to get softer outputs. Stay below 1 in that case normally, especially on Character Skin/ Structure.

Consider changing it to:

Be sure youre "depth input buffer is reversed" set to 0 for ROTTR.

Thats it......

COMPATIBILITY:

- you can still combine with DLAA via profile inspector (just do not swap out the dlss files provided here, they moust stay in palce)

- you can still add GI via reshade. (But disable AO!)

- you can still add texture

- you can add meshes of any kind

- i would NOT use AO injected via reshade any more. It is heavy, has problems, with fog and UI and DLSS5 does it
