📋 About This Mod

Description:

While I appreciate the game's vanilla filter, I would prefer the option of more filters that are

less subdued and hazy.

Here, I have attempted to create clearer and more vibrant presets that highlight the environment

without being too overbearing.

Colorful Natural Clarity - Vibrant - (i.e., Natural Clarity with 'Curves.fx' turned off)

Natural Clarity - More vanilla, but with color - (Default)

2x Bonus: CRT Natural/Natural Colorful Clarity - (Just for fun)

Requirements:

1. REFramework (https://www.nexusmods.com/residentevil42023/mods/12)2.

2. If using the Presets/Shaders only version - Download/Install ReShade (https://reshade.me/) or

ReShade with full add-on support (for ray tracing GPUs)

Optional:

1. Fluffy Mod Manager (https://www.nexusmods.com/residentevil42023/mods/14)

2. Potential Crash Fix: Download '(dlss version)' + download/install reshade with full

add-on support, then rename dxgi.dll to d3d12.dll, in your game's main directory.

Installation:

1. Download (Fluffy Mod Manager, Manual, or Optional)

A. Fluffy Mod Manager

i. Place in Fluffy Mod Manager 'Mods' folder

ii. Enable Natural Clarity in Fluffy Mod Manager

i. Extract files to main game directory '...steamapps\common\RESIDENT EVIL 4 BIOHAZARD RE4'

C. Optional Section

i. Presets and Shaders Only - Use if ReShade is already installed

ii. dlss/Ray Tracing version - Use this if you are using dlss or are having crash issues

This is a potential fix for certain systems (May be GPU-based, I haven't personally experienced any

crashes on a GTX 1080ti, but I wouldn't be surprised if there are some issues with ray tracing

capable cards). The only other thing that may cause crashing would be conflict with other mods

since ReShade is dependent on REFramework to work.

Further, if you are getting a 'fatal d3d error (25)' it is likely a ray tracing or DirectX issue, but it

seems system specific for the exact problem. Check out this thread:

iii. No FakeHDR.fx - Use if HDR is enabled or are having crashes

RE4 Re - Natural Clarity ReShades is a visual mod for Resident Evil 4 Remake that replaces the vanilla hazy filter with clearer, more vibrant presets. It offers multiple options including a colorful natural clarity preset and a more vanilla-like default, plus CRT bonus presets. Requires REFramework and optionally ReShade, with installation via Fluffy Mod Manager or manual extraction.

✨ Key Features

Adds multiple ReShade presets: Colorful Natural Clarity (vibrant, with Curves.fx off), Natural Clarity (default, more vanilla with color), and 2x Bonus CRT presets.
Designed to reduce the vanilla filter's haze and create clearer, more vibrant visuals that highlight the environment.
Installation options include Fluffy Mod Manager, manual extraction, and a Presets/Shaders only version for those with ReShade already installed.
Includes a dlss/Ray Tracing version as a potential crash fix for certain systems.
Requires REFramework and optionally ReShade with full add-on support for ray tracing GPUs.

📊 Pros & Cons

✅ Pros

  • Community favorite with 604 endorsements and over 24k downloads, so it's proven to work for many players.
  • Multiple presets give you choices from vibrant to vanilla-plus, so you can dial in exactly the look you want.
  • Includes a dlss/Ray Tracing version to fix crashes on some systems, which is a thoughtful touch for RTX users.

⚠️ Cons

  • Requires REFramework, which is a dependency you'll need to grab separately, and ReShade if you go the manual route.
  • The dlss version fix is described as 'potential' and GPU-based, so it might not solve crashes for everyone.
  • Since it's a ReShade preset, it can impact performance depending on your GPU, especially with ray tracing enabled.
🎯 Is This For You?
For RE4 Remake players who find the vanilla filter too hazy and want a clearer, more vibrant look without overhauling the game's aesthetic. If you're happy with the default visuals or don't want to mess with ReShade and REFramework, this isn't for you.
📦 Install:Medium· 5-10 minutes

💡 Beginner Tips

  • If you're using the Presets/Shaders only version, make sure ReShade is installed first, and pick the full add-on support version if you have a ray tracing GPU.
  • For the dlss version, rename dxgi.dll to d3d12.dll in the game's main directory to apply the crash fix.
  • Use Fluffy Mod Manager to easily toggle the mod on and off, and to avoid manual file extraction mistakes.
