Remington Rand M1911A1 Pistol

The 1911A1 pistol was a development of the Colt Model 1911. The changes, made as a result of First World War combat experience, were limited to minor alterations to the shape of the grip, frame and hammer. Over 1,800,000 Model 1911A1 pistols were produced during the Second World War by Colt and other contractors. This particular model is one of 877,751 manufactured by the most important of these contractors, Remington Rand Inc. - a company better known for its production of typewriters, business machines and electric razors.
