📋 About This Mod

A mod that makes re-railing more realistic

Description

This mod disables the normal shift+R rerail logic and replaces it with a more realistic and immersive rerailing experience.

Installation instructions

Drop the zip in to the UMM mod loader.

How to use:

Shift+R now only works for pushing cars. It no longer rerails them.

There are 2 different ways to rerail cars with this mod.

[]Butterfly Rerailer: These are a rerailer that can be placed down similar to a flare, and when a derailed car is drug or pushed over it, it will rerail it while moving. Use shift+ K to place the butterflies. They will snap to the track and face the player. Direction is not important to their function. There are some limitations to the Butterfly though. The first is that you have to be moving. You have to be moving, but be going slower than 3mph. If you go too fast it will broadcast a speed error. The second major limitation is the severity of the derailment. It must be below a 0. 3. Now, the game doesn't show you this number, but as a general rule of thumb, if the wheels are close to the edge of the ties it is almost or is too far. Naturally, it will broadcast an error if the car is too far away for the butterfly and tell you that you need the crane. [/]

[]The Wreck Crane: This is using Super Chiefs MOW Crane, (or any crane with a MOWC type). The crane is used for any severity of derailment, and can rerail cars on paralell tracks, or right behind it. It has a range of 30 meters. There are some neat features to the crane, as its not just a click and done. With the crane itself selected, click Shift+F to open the crane menu. There you will see all derailed cars in range, any support cars, and how long each rerail will take. A lone crane will take 5 minutes real time to rerail a car. There are a few different ways to speed up the rerail time. The best way to do it economically is to invest in support cars. These are cars with the type MOW (included in the crane pack) Each car added to the wreck consist (up to 4) will decrease the time for rerail. at a 5x multiplier (full support set) your rerail time will be down to 1 minute per car. There are also options for paid tiers for rerailing. Each tier can replace a car multiplier, or add on top of its multiplier. The cost is $50 per car per tier. So if you have a full 5x paid multiplier, and a full support car setup you get a 10x multiplier and can rerail a car in just 30 seconds. But at the cost of $250 per car. The range is just right for 2-3 freight cars or 1 passenger car to be rerailed at a time. (this is subject to change as testing furthers) It does mean however, if you derail a 20 car train, it will be a lot of trips back and forth to the siding to clear it off the main. So run carefully. [/]
