Rutland and New York Central Standard Wood Cabooses

Adds the Rutland tall and short cupola wood cabooses, and the New York Central 19000 series standard wood caboose to the game with fully modeled and animated interiors and Rutland, VTR, and GMRC paint schemes as selectable component groups.

In 1912, New York Central began a large scale project to build new steel frame, wood sheathed cabooses for themselves and all major NYC subsidiaries. At the time, the Rutland Railroad was under the control of the New York Central, and built 12 of these standard plan cabooses in their shops, which would influence caboose construction for the rest of the Rutland's 60-year tenure. Later versions of the Rutland-built cabooses featured a taller cupola since they didn't have to contend with the same clearance issues that New York Central did.

With over 1,000 of these standard plan cabooses built by various shops across the NYC's expansive system, countless variations arose as each shop and subsidiary railroad adapted the design to their own needs and preferences. This mod focuses on three versions of this caboose; Rutland's original 12 standard design cabooses, the later tall cupola version, and New York Central's most numerous variation of the standard 19000 series.

These models were built in part using measurements and detail photos taken from a surviving Rutland caboose located at the Rutland Railway Museum in Center Rutland, Vermont. Drawings and historical photos were also used, making this model extremely accurate inside and out. Some creative liberties were taken with the interior, in regards to the storage lockers.

In memory of the many people who have kept the storied history of the Rutland Railroad and their wooden vans alive.
