The PRR Stock Car K7A is a mid-century livestock transport car built for the Pennsylvania Railroad (PRR) system. Designed primarily in the late 1940s, the K7A was part of PRR’s modernization program to replace aging wooden stock cars with more durable and hygienic all-steel construction.

Featuring slatted side panels for ventilation and a reinforced steel underframe, the K7A was built to safely transport cattle, sheep, and hogs across long distances without compromising airflow or structural integrity. The design incorporated swing-end doors for easier loading and unloading, as well as spring-mounted bogies to reduce livestock stress during transport.

In service, the K7A became a common sight on both branch and mainline routes, often found in mixed freight consists heading toward agricultural centers and stockyards. Many units remained in operation well into the 1970s before being phased out or converted for maintenance and utility use.
