Northern Pacific Logging and Wood Service Pack

The Northern Pacific ran through, as the name implied, the US Northwest.  This was logging country, and as such they had a LOT of different logging and logging adjacent cars - many of which are perfect for a short line on a budget!  Given how important wood is to this game, I wanted to add some additional options for your logging needs!  Find information on capacities and number of cars per level of vanilla industries below!  Installs via UMM.

NP 54000 Series Gondolas

Built in 1925 by the Ryan Car Company, these composite gondolas are made of wood and steel with a drop-bottom design.  They are about 43 feet long, and just over four and a half feet tall.  There are 3 variations on this car:

Base: Stands in for normal gondolas, 50 ton capacity

Logging:  Capacity of 6 logs, 1800 dollar cost

Pulpwood: Capacity of 50 tons of pulpwood, 900 dollar cost

NP 185000 Series Woodchip Car

In 1957, the Northern Pacific decided to convert some of the 54000 Series gondolas for woodchip service.  Given that woodchips are a far less dense cargo, the railroad essentially slapped some planks on the sides of the car to hold similar capacities.  You might recognize this one in game from an earlier mod I made - this is the same car, but I have vastly improved it!  No variations on this one, with 50 don capacity like the original.

NP 121000 Series Logging Flatcars

Originally built as express refrigerator cars, these 42 foot skeletonized flatcars were converted by the Northern Pacific in 1951 for logging service.  With a capacity of 80,000 pounds they were one of many converted cars used in this service.  There are two variations with the same "5" log capacity: one that has a single large log tied down, and one which has several smaller logs and stakes - which are just sticks, as was a not-uncommon practice!

NP 67800 Series Pulpwood Cars

Pulpwood is actually the worst wood a site has.  So, the Northern Pacific's solution in 1937 to haul this cargo was a set of cars built on the cheap to handle the load.  Some of these are converted boxcars, others built from whatever was at the shop.  The cars have a capacity of 40 tons, and come in a pulpwood version (of course) but also a hopper, for woodchip service!

NP 1000 Series 24' Caboose

Your train of course isn't complete without a caboose.  This is the 1000 series caboose - or one of the many variations.  With the first built in 1907, and the rest coming in batches here and there, these cars were relatively spartan, with 7 bunks and one desk for the whole crew in a tight space.  Has several built-in options for Northern Pacific liveries, as well as customizable options!
