Macon County Railroad

The route turns the Alarka end station into a turnaround station where trains have to be turned around in order to continue their journey. The Macon County Railroad branches off from the existing branch line between Chochran and Alarka Jct. Geographically, it was decided to build the branch line from Alarka in order to avoid the need for utopian bridges, tunnels, or gradients. This means that trains have to be turned around in Alarka. The route then runs via Lauada into the Little Tennessee River valley to Marple Springs, the first medium-sized station on the line. Between this stop and the next, Shallow Ford, there is also a small branch line to Licklog Creek. Trains also run from Shallow Ford to Tellico Creek, a branch line that turns off further along. After Oak Grove and Dean Island, you reach Cowee. Yes, Cowee. Actually. Since we all know that Cowee is not where it should be, we founded Old Cowee. It is the largest station along the line. Here, trains can be rerouted in several directions. North (Alarka), south (North Franklin or Olive Hill), or east (Cowee Creek). There is an interchange in North Franklin, the branch line to Olive Hill runs via Macon County Airport, and the eastern branch line to Cowee Creek, where there are several industries. The center point here is Leatherman.
