HelperMod - DPU Helper Locomotive Support

HelperMod adds Distributed Power Unit (DPU) helper

locomotive support to Railroader. Run realistic

mid-train and rear helper operations just like real

railroads tackle steep mountain grades.

## The Problem This Solves

Heavy consists on steep grades need more than just

front locomotives. Real railroads place helper

locomotives mid-train and at the rear to distribute

pulling force and reduce coupler stress. Without

helpers your front locomotives drag the entire weight

alone and stall on grades that real trains climb daily.

## Features

### DPU Manager (Press F9)

Simple interface to assign lead and helper locomotives.

Set your lead loco first then assign mid or rear helpers.

Assignments save automatically and restore when you

reload your game so you never have to reassign after

a session break.

### Automatic Throttle Sync

Helpers automatically mirror the lead locomotive's

throttle, reverser and train brake every half second.

When you set notch 8 on your lead every helper

responds instantly. When you brake the whole consist

brakes together.

### Smart Uncouple Detection

When a helper is uncoupled during yard operations

the mod detects the separation immediately. Throttle

cuts to zero and brakes apply automatically preventing

runaway helpers.

### Grade and Helper Calculator

Built-in calculator tells you exactly how many

locomotives you need for any grade and tonnage.

Enter your grade percentage and the mod auto-detects

your consist weight and car count. Recommends the

optimal split between lead, mid and rear helpers.

Supports custom force values for modded locomotives.

### Multiple Consist Support

Run multiple trains simultaneously each with their

own independent helper assignments. Designed for

players managing large operations with 10 or more

consists running at the same time.

## Installation

1. Install Unity Mod Manager for Railroader

2. Download HelperMod zip file

3. Open UMM installer and drag the zip into it

4. Launch Railroader

5. Press F9 in game to open DPU Manager

## How To Use

1. Press F9 to open DPU Manager window

2. Click Set Lead on your lead locomotive

3. Click Rear Helper or Mid Helper on helper locos

4. Throttle syncs automatically to all helpers

5. Use Open Calculator to plan your consist power needs

6. Save and quit anytime - assignments restore on reload
