Chicago and Northwestern Late Heavyweight Commuter Coaches

Tired of the Osgood-Bradleys?  Want something a little more rounded to go with your doodlebugs?  Overwhelmed by the volume of passengers that have decided to embrace the superior form of transit here on the Murphy?  Well, I have the cars for you!

These commuter cars are based off of prototypes ordered by the Chicago and Northwestern in the late 20's (1927 and 1929, to be exact).  Chicago had one of the largest commuter networks in the country, and like many roads at the time, the search for additional capacity was always ongoing.  These cars are more or less the pinnacle of the pre-war search for more passenger capacity - spartan steel cars with few amenities, easy cleaning and turnaround, roller bearing trucks, and most importantly, minimal moving parts for maintenance.  The in game stats are prototypical, and are as follows:

    Requires Aspen's Commonwealth Trucks, baggage loads, and Lego's Better Passenger, as well as the usual base mods.

    I've fitted a large number of colorizers and customizations into these; they should match name-wise to most other modded stock, and while there are a few additional colorizers I have added to this, most existing stock colors should be able to be added without much worry!  I also have included a number of details of these cars, such as period advertisements, which would have been common for this kind of car, much like modern transit.

    These cars also have baked lighting, so you too can experience the feeling of the glow coming out of the windows of the car on a late night trip through a snowy Chicago evening heading back from work at the business factory, without your computer turning into a volcano.

    Three of these cars are still around, as well, of the 150 that were ordered, all of them from the 25 combines.  7700, the first of the combines, is at the Illinois Railway Museum (and the main car I used to create the prototype!), the second is 7718 at the Whitewater Valley Railroad, and the last is 7721, at the Oklahoma Railway Museum.  A huge thanks to all three of these organizations for preserving these cars and railroad history!
