East Whittier Yard – Rebuild & Overhaul

With the upcoming Maintenance of Way update getting closer, development and updates for my current map mods will be put on hold for the time being. I would rather avoid spending a lot of time expanding the current versions if much of that work may need to be rebuilt shortly afterward.

Once the experimental branch becomes available, I plan to jump in, test the new tools, and start learning the in-game editor properly. Rather than simply porting everything over, I am currently leaning toward rebuilding at least some of the larger mods from scratch, using what I have learned from the existing versions.

The goal would be to create cleaner and more modular releases, with a vanilla-balanced foundation and optional add-ons for players who prefer more complex industries and heavier operations.

Nothing is being abandoned — this is more of a pause before the next generation of the projects. There may even be a broader relaunch and a new shared identity for some of them once the new system is ready. 🐻🚂

Hopefully, I will have a few things ready by the time the update reaches the main branch. 🙂

A fully re-imagined version of East Whittier Yard, inspired by Foxy's East Whittier Interchange, now with expanded functionality and CTC integration.

This mod delivers a comprehensive overhaul of the East Whittier Yard, transforming its layout, capacity, and operational flow. Whether you're managing long consists or fine-tuning yard logistics, this rebuild offers smoother routing, enhanced sorting, and full turntable functionality—all designed to elevate your rail experience.

🔧 Features & Improvements

• []Mainline Separation

  The mainline now runs outside the yard, reducing interference and improving traffic flow.[/]

  []Expanded Yard & Interchange

  The yard has been relocated and enlarged. The interchange has also been expanded and now supports up to 103 cars.[/]

  []Interchange Reactivation

  Reactivate the interchange via the Progressions tab (fee required).[/]

  []Additional Sorting Yard

  A new sorting yard has been added to improve car organization and flow.[/]

  []New Staging Tracks

  Two staging/sorting tracks have been added next to the interchange, increasing delivery capacity.[/]

  []Engine House Connectivity

  The engine house now connects from both ends, East end is connected to the turntable, allowing locomotives to be turned during entry, exit, or service.[/]

  []Functional Turntable

  Located where the old interchange yard stood, the turntable is fully usable with AI way-point mode. It connects to four tracks and provides access to car service and supply tracks.[/]

  []Updated Diesel Refueling

  The diesel refuel trigger for tank cars has been moved to a dedicated track.[/]

  []Additional Storage Tracks

  Caboose and engine storage tracks have been added at both ends of the yard.[/]

  []Repair parts Track Relocation

  The repair parts track is now positioned outside the engine house for easier access.[/]

  []Coal Loader Extension

  Extended by one car length, the coal loader now accommodates two 3-bay hopper cars within the switch.[/]
