📋 About This Mod
No one else was doing it and I wanted to play with it so I did it myself.
This mod adds the rest of the Murphy Branch to the east, extending 44 miles east of the Sylva interchange to the mainline at Asheville. Along the way the line passes through:
-
[]Beta, a small whistle stop along the river[/]
[]Addie, a railroad town with a wye and milestones for a large yard and engine servicing facility[/]
[]Willits, a small lumber milling town[/]
[]Balsam, the highest railroad pass east of the Rockies[/]
[]Hazelwood, an industrial town on the outskirts of Waynesville[/]
[]Waynesville, the largest city on the branch, exceeding Bryson City by several times[/]
[]Lake Junaluska, a resort town in the mountains[/]
[]Clyde, a large interchange yard in a serene valley[/]
[]Canton, home of Champion Fiber, one of the largest paper mills in the nation. It will ship 140 cars a day on T5, including 75 cars of captive service pulpwood[/]
[]Coburn, just a siding[/]
[]Luthers, small farming whistle stop[/]
[]Hominy, another small farming village[/]
[]Candler, a whistle stop in the valley[/]
[]Enka, home of the American Enka Company, the largest Rayon factory in the nation[/]
[]Sulphur Springs, a health resort[/]
[]Boswell, a suburb of Asheville[/]
[]Emma, a residential neighborhood[/]
[]Asheville, a genuine city and a division point on the Southern Railway[/]
Balsam Grade is second only to Red Marble in terms of steepness and curvature, and has been recreated as close as was feasible with available data and tools. Track arrangements are modeled from ICC and USGS maps from 1927 and 1940, ensuring a baseline level of accuracy, though some industry and options for expansion have been added for gameplay purposes.
This is my first mod for Railroader, so there may be bugs, glitches, and unintended effects on your game. I do NOT recommend using this mod on an active save yet, since it is very much in development and not ready for full use. It is presented here now for demonstration purposes, and because I think it's cool and want to share it and let others enjoy it.
-
[]Fictional classification yards at Addie, Clyde[/]
[]1:1 recreation of Asheville yard merging maps of both 1917 and 1925 (capacity: 2000 cars in the yard and another 250 in the adjacent interchange yard)[/]
[]Progression milestone for unlocking the whole area at once[/]
[]Engine servicing in Addie, Waynesville, Clyde, and Asheville[/]
[]Captive logging branch at Quinlan-Monroe in Hazelwood[/]
[]Recreation of the Pigeon River Railroad, from Canton to Spruce[/]
BEFORE YOU INSTALL:
This mod dramatically changes the way the railroad is run. If you unlock Balsam Mountain, then everything from Addie to

✨ Key Features
📊 Pros & Cons
✅ Pros
- Decent community traction with 63 endorsements and nearly 6k downloads.
- Adds a substantial 44-mile route, giving you plenty of new track to run.
- Simple premise: if you want to run trains to Asheville, this does exactly that.
⚠️ Cons
- No details on scenery or interactive elements—could be just bare track.
- Only 63 endorsements, so it's a smaller mod with limited community feedback.
- Compatibility with other map mods or save games is unverified—back up your saves.
For train sim players who want to extend their routes eastward and enjoy longer hauls through the mountains. If you're after detailed scenery or new industries, this might not be enough. Skip if you prefer vanilla maps or don't need extra track.
