📋 About This Mod
In the vanilla game, once the player's health, hunger, or thirst hit a specific value, there are immediate and severe debuffs to move speed, swim speed, and oxygen usage, and health is lost at a static rate. The UI is hit with a strong pulsing vinette and chromatic aberration, and incessant choking and / or stomach growling sounds are played.
This all means that the player goes from perfectly fine to dying in the span of a single frame.
This mod makes the above debuff and visual effects occur gradually based on the actual remaining stats; only when the stat reaches 0 will the full effect be experienced, otherwise the effect will be based on the amount remaining. Sound frequency will start at a reduced rate (starting at every 10 seconds instead of the default of every 3 seconds) and gradually become more frequent as the stat decreases.
